The couple began dating last year and are now taking their relationship to the next level, but what many might not know is that they also dated briefly in 2019. The relationship obviously left a sour taste in both of their mouths and they did not hesitate to let this be known in their songs. In fact, Leray even called out Redd for naming an entire diss track after her.

Coi Leray, daughter of rapper and media executive Benzino, made her debut in the music scene in 2018 with her mixtape, Everythingcoz. Before the release of her debut studio album, Trendsetter, she released two very successful singles, No More Parties and Blick Blick, both of which peaked on the Billboard.

According to VIBE, Leray dated Trippie Redd in 2019. Things were going well by the looks of it. However, things started going downhill at some point and they broke up. It got messier when Redd dropped the first track of his album A Love Letter to You 4. The track Leray was obviously named after his ex and expressed how strong their relationship was for the first two months, before things went south. The song also had lyrics like:

When you got with me, you were a genius/ Now without me you have to live life as an idiot.

Leray addressed the situation with a now-deleted X post, which can still be seen in an Instagram post from DJ Akademiks. The post read:

It was certainly a b*tch move for Trip to go and name the song after me. I heard all those songs 5 months ago. And he personally sent me ‘Leray’ like a b*tch and still puts it in his album.

The fact that Redd had the songstress listen to the song and still released it as a part of his album somehow made this situation look even worse because they had also collaborated on music together in 2019 and she even accompanied him on a tour earlier that year.

Leray was deeply affected by Redd’s diss track. This became even more obvious when she appeared on No Jumper for an interview and discussed the song. While she called the song “bullsh*t”, she also could not hold back her appreciation for Redd’s artistry.

At first, no, I didn’t like it. It was very like, what the f**k, because I always thought we really had something outside of the music. So I’m just like, damn. If you got something to say, let’s get together and you say that sh*t to my face… I felt like I’m being used for click bait. […] Just like me, I’mma put my feelings in a song and my emotions in a song and he does it very well, and that’s one thing I gotta give to him.

A couple of years later, she released the song Isabel Marant, in which she got back at Redd by name-dropping him. She rapped:

Tried to count me out, and now I’m big as Trippie Redd (yeah)/ Red, Red (whoo!)/
I hope I don’t crash (yeah, crash)

In September 2024, Redd revealed to TMZ that they were dating again after he reconnected with her in hopes of rekindling their romance. Fast-forward to this month, and they not only went Instagram official, but Leray also announced her pregnancy with a carousel of pictures. The diss tracks are obviously a thing of the past now.
