Blake Lively and Taylor Swift are two of the biggest stars in their respective fields, and fans have seen them together, joking, supporting each other, and basically setting friendship goals. However, there is more to their relationship than just a high-profile friendship.
Lively is not just Swift’s best friend, she is also a big fan of the singer. And she is not the kind of fan who just likes her music, she is someone who knows every lyric, every beat, and the meaning behind them. And like every Swiftie, Lively also has her favorite album.
Taylor Swift’s Album That Charges Up Blake Lively
It was 2015 when Blake Lively first showed her Swiftie colors. After having slight confusion about Swift’s Bad Blood song in a now-deleted Instagram post, Lively came forward and clarified her stance. Later, the actress met Taylor Swift on her 1989 tour in Australia, and thus their friendship began.
Fast forward to today, and the two are like partners in crime. They have supported each other through directing music videos, album releases, movie premieres, and even shared some kangaroo selfies. But it is not just about the glamour and publicity. Their friendship runs deeper than that.
In 2017, Reputation was released, and it was Swift’s comeback after a public feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. It was largely talked about with many rumors from both sides, and the album was all about Swift reclaiming her narrative. And Lively was there cheering her friend on during the time.
In a recent interview with DC Film Girl while promoting her movie It Ends with Us, Lively talked about her love for Reputation. She said,
Music is like what gets me in. Reputation, Reputation, just Reputation…that’s what I listen to. Every character’s playlist is reputation…when you’re like going to work and it’s 5:00 a.m. and you got to, like go do hard things and try to do them well..Reputation is just like the best, like knowing, like connecting with your own power album.
Swift wrote Reputation when she was facing public questions and allegations. She just went through the Kanye West feud after the MTV Video Music Awards and West released Famous with some controversial lyrics about Swift.
Reputation was an edgier, resilient album with songs like Look What You Made Me Do and …Ready for It? which were not just catchy tunes. They were statements. They were Swift making it clear that she was still there, stronger than ever, and that resonated with Lively.
Blake Lively Doesn’t Have a Favorite Taylor Swift Song
Swift’s music is not just about personal empowerment for Lively. It is also influencing her professional life. Lively secured Swift’s track My Tears Ricochet from her album Folklore for the trailer of her upcoming movie It Ends with Us.
In an interview with Entertainment Online, Lively declared herself as the biggest fan of Swift. While talking about using her song in her upcoming film, she said,
You could’ve put any song on, like, her music is just, like, unmatched. Her writing is so beautiful and it’s so personal and you can feel that, you can feel that in the way that she sings. You can feel that in her lyrics.
But when the actress was asked to pick a favorite Swift song, Lively said it was like choosing a favorite child. In her interview with the Australian TV show The Project, she said, “I could tell you my favorite child sooner if you would like to know that answer”
Lively’s upcoming movie is based on Colleen Hoover’s novel and deals with heavy themes like domestic violence. Talking about the writer, Lively sees parallels between Hoover and Swift. Lively said at a Q&A panel for Book Bonanza (via People),
Colleen is able to tell something that’s deeply personal and intimate but is able to resonate with so many people. And Taylor, she’s such an incredible writer. She writes from such personal experiences and vulnerability.
Blake Lively is not just Taylor Swift’s friend. She’s a fan, a collaborator, and someone who finds strength in Swift’s music. And with Reputation being her favorite album, she has definitely made a place in the hearts of millions of Swifties.
It Ends with Us will be released in theaters on August 9, 2024.
