Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, better known as the popular rapper Gangsta Boo, passed away on January 1, 2023, at the age of 43. According to reports, she overdosed on drugs and suffered a cardiac arrest before being found dead. DJ Paul K.O.M., who posted a picture of her performing as a DJ as a moving tribute, confirmed the news of her passing. Fans are shocked by the news of her sudden death. Gangsta Boo was the second female member of Three 6 Mafia before she left the group in 2002. Several other hip-hop celebrities posted about Mitchell’s passing on DJ Paul K.O.M’s page, expressing their shock and sorrow.
Apparently, the rapper was found dead at her Memphis home on Sunday around 4 p.m.

According to sources close to Gangsta Boo, the rapper’s death appears to be a result of drug use. Her brother reportedly started to overdose late last night while they were both attending a local Memphis concert, necessitating hospitalization. Even though he recovered, according to sources, she was found with drugs on her person, and a fentanyl-laced substance is thought to be the culprit. The police are reportedly starting a formal investigation in the meantime. Of course, an autopsy is also necessary to determine the exact cause of death.
Following DJ Paul’s announcement of her passing, a number of other rappers and musicians left comments on the post. One of the first to comment was rapper Lil Jon, who wrote, “MAN WE WAS JUST TOGETHER 3 WEEKS AGO. REST WELL QUEEN.” Along with the words “Long Live The Queen,” Duke Deuce added an emoji of a crown and a red heart. In response, 2 Chainz said, “Mannnn,” followed by an emoji of a crying face,” expressing his shock. Ty Dolla Sign also added, “Damn queen we were locked in.”
She was also remembered by DJ Peter Rosenberg on Twitter, who said,
“Gangsta Boo was such a unique artist… style wise, voice wise, energy. She was not the token woman of the crew … she really brought her own style to 3-6/Hypnotized Minds and made them a better more complete click/label…”

Gangsta Boo has significantly influenced the rap scene, and because of this, she is recognized as a pioneer of female rap music. The Memphis-based hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia had just two female members total (after K-9) before Mitchell joined. The renowned artist began rapping when she was about 14 years old. Her final project includes an appearance on the song Walking in the Snow from Run the Jewels’ RTJ4 album. After leaving Three 6 Mafia in the early 2000s, Lola released a solo album as well as a number of mixtapes. She was a member of the group during the 1990s. Along with Gucci Mane, OutKast, The Game, and other well-known rappers, she appeared in a number of their songs. She had formerly collaborated with Eminem.
Given that Gangsta Boo had just recently used Instagram to share a post, the news of her death shocked her fans to the core. The performer captioned a silly photo she shared three days ago with her friend MJG with the words “MJG over my erratic behavior #pressure.” The rapper bragged about having 277K platform followers.
