A new type of horror and action has been brought to DCU through Creature Commandos with some unexpected emotional twists. The show has presented some complex narratives and character arcs, particularly through seemingly monstrous characters.

Among them, Weasel could be regarded as the most fascinating one. A character in The Suicide Squad who was at one point considered a mere animalistic being has become one of the most emotionally complex characters in the show. And now, as the season finale is about to hit the screens, fans are discussing his possible tragic fate.

Through Weasel, Creature Commandos has introduced a complex, multi-dimensional character. Though he was believed to be a simple creation, the show found out that he was once John Monroe, but how he became that way is not well understood.

His backstory shows a tragic incident where he became friends with eight school children, all of whom died in a fire accident. Moreover, Weasel was accused of their death, while in fact, he was trying to rescue them. The sixth episode of the series appears to set up a tragic ending to Weasel’s story.

After escaping from Task Force M, Weasel finds himself a pack of wolves, which shows his nature of making connections even though he looks like a monster. Besides, his meeting with Princess Rostovic reminded him of the little girl he failed to rescue during the fire accident.

Redditors theorized on the topic of Weasel’s fate in the finale, and as far as it goes, they are leaning toward his demise. The most popular one predicts that Weasel will betray Task Force M in order to save Princess Rostovic, who he sees as his chance to correct his previous mistake of failing to rescue a young girl from the fire.

In such a case, Weasel’s condition will remain uncertain as Task Force M will be outside Rostovic’s castle for their final mission. If Weasel attempts to save the princess, Amanda Waller or his own teammates might kill him. On the other hand, if he looks hostile in an effort to defend her, the guards might kill him, in a similar way he was considered guilty during his fire accident.

Future of Creature Commandos

The final episode might show some more information about Nina Mazursky, who is the only member of Task Force M whose backstory has not been explored yet. But that might be topped by Weasel’s possible end, as his death will be a fitting finale to what the season is doing- exploring humanity within monsters.

James Gunn has recently revealed on Threads that there will be a post-credits scene after the finale episode. However, whether it will tie to the newly announced second season or to other DCU projects like Superman or Peacemaker Season 2 is still unknown.

When Warner Bros. Animation’s Peter Girardi spoke for the show’s renewal for the second season, he said the fans will see “more monsters” and the growth of such characters in the process. As Girardi stated (via Warner Bros. Discovery),

Thanks to the brilliant imagination of James and the talent of our amazing artists, DC fans fell in love with this new family of heroes. We are excited to continue this wild ride with our partners at Max. You want more monsters, you’re getting more monsters!

When it comes to the end of the season, it will probably aim to have an emotional impact that could change perceptions about not only Weasel but also the concept of the monstrosity within the DCU.
