House of the Dragon is the prequel to one of the most popular shows if not the most popular, and even showrunner Ryan Condal has admitted it now. However, there is also something else that he has admitted, and it might not be what fans had been expecting.

The second season of the show has finally come to an end and with that, it has started many new conversations on the internet regarding some of the pivotal scenes in the final episode. One of them is where Daemon Targaryen has another of his visions in his Harrenhaal.

Luckily, this time around, it is not something that has started yet another controversy. Rather, it has shown a certain connection to its parent series the Game of Thrones, and even led some to think that the prophecy in GoT was fulfilled by Daenerys Targaryen, instead of Jon Snow. However, Condal begs to differ and in more ways than one.

House of the Dragon Showrunner Ryan Condal Has Debunked the Theory about Daemon’s Vision

Daemon (portrayed by Matt Smith) has moved to Harrenhaal to ensure that the Blacks have the upper hand against the Greens in the Dance of the Dragons, which will eventually lead to the fall of the Targaryen dynasty. It is the courtesy of the cursed palace he is living in that he has been having vivid visions. The final episode of the show saw another one of those visions.

In the vision, a burning meteorite, often referred to as the ‘bleeding star’ mentioned in prophecies in the world of Westeros, can be seen. Following it, a shot of Daenerys Targaryen (portrayed by Emilia Clarke in GoT) with her dragons is seen. This has led many to believe that this is the fulfillment of the prophecy about the ‘Prince That Was Promised’.

However, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Ryan Condal has dashed out any such hopes, saying:

The connectivity for us is specifically in and around the dragons … The connectedness between this family and the family to come … We know who Daenerys is watching that image, but Daemon has no idea — that could be his future daughter with Rhaenyra … So for that reason, I think it was important that it was Daenerys the image.

Condal has stated that the main reason behind showing Daenerys in that vision is to establish a connection between the two shows. He also explained that since all the dragons will be dead by the time the Dance of the Dragons ends and are only brought back with Daenerys, it was important to show it this way. This is also the reason why Jon Snow is not the person Daemon sees in the vision.

The Mystery around the Prophecy from the Game of Thrones Remains Unresolved

The thing with people and more so with people in power, is that they interpret things as they want them to be. Condal certainly understands this and has taken advantage of it. Not only has he led Daemon to think that the woman he sees in his vision will be the saving grace, but the fans have long wondered who the promised Prince is.

For the longest time, there has been speculation regarding the prophecy. Since both Jon Snow (portrayed by Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen are from the Targaryen family, fans have often wondered which one of them is actually the Prince That Was Promised.

So, when Daemon’s vision featured Daenerys, they assumed that it was her. However, the showrunner has refused to give any confirmation to The Hollywood Reporter regarding it, since he believes that it is George R.R. Martin’s story to tell, and not his.
