Daredevil Showrunner Has A Unique Request After Man of Steel 2
Netflix’s Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight recently made headlines for expressing his desire to direct a Superman movie starring Henry Cavill. DeKnight has formerly worked on CW’s Smallville which was based on the Man of Steel in his early years. Later on, he was the showrunner for the first season of Daredevil which received critical acclaim upon its release. Since then, DeKnight made his directorial debut on the big screen with Pacific Rim: Uprising, the sequel to Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim. After expressing his intent to direct the sequel to Man of Steel, Steven DeKnight has expressed a unique request on Twitter.

Recently on the social media platform, DeKnight created a buzz with his intent to direct a Superman movie starring Henry Cavill. Cavill, who made his DCEU debut as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel has also been the center of news regarding the future of his iteration of Superman on the big screen. Since his last appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, there have been numerous reports of Warner Bros. expressing no intent to include Henry Cavill in the future of DC Extended Universe. The spat between Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. has marked a huge doubt on the future of both Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck as the studio house is reportedly trying to erase the continuity built by Snyder. Also, reports of introducing a black Superman with Michael B. Jordan portraying the character have been reported with a script from Ta-Nehisi Coates. Though Henry Cavill is currently enjoying the success of Netflix’s The Witcher, the actor has expressed his desire to return as the Man of Steel if asked.
While it’s still unclear if Steven DeKnight’s intent to direct a Superman movie with Cavill will ever come to fruition, the showrunner has used the internet buzz for a hilarious unique request. The showrunner has hilariously followed up with a request to helm a blockbuster movie with complete creative freedom. Here’s the tweet:
I should put it out there that I’m also interested in someone giving me 200 million dollars with no strings attached and see if that gets traction. https://t.co/5FcHCbq3vW

Though DeKnight’s request can be taken in good humor, it still raises the question of the future of Henry Cavill’s Superman in the DCEU. Despite overwhelming support from the fans, Warner Bros. doesn’t seem quite interested in Man of Steel 2 in the foreseeable future. With Andy Muschietti’s The Flash starring Ezra Miller set to release this year, the future of Cavill’s Man of Steel is yet to be seen.

With Zack Snyder’s Justice League being considered as one of the best movies of 2021 and Henry Cavill’s continued success in The Witcher, Warner Bros. should definitely continue with the actor. More importantly, the studio cannot possibly keep ignoring its most popular superhero for a long time, despite possibly replacing Cavill’s Superman with Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in The Flash.
