Darth Maul Animated Series Reportedly In Pipeline (& Possible Arcs The Star Wars Show May Explore)
A new report suggests that Darth Maul will be headlining a new solo animated series. While Star Wars fans are already happy with many Star wars shows like Star wars: Visions & The Mandalorian, Darth Maul is a welcome new addition. Should it ever happen, the character has several incredible moments in the Star wars universe the show must explore at any cost.
The report first surfaced thanks to Cineclix. The site reported that Darth Maul will be the lead in a solo animated show which will explore his time in the Crimson Dawn organization before the events of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Sam Witwer is rumored to be returning to lend his voice to Maul again in this series. Clone Wars legend Dee Bradley Baker is also making a comeback. Another important voice actor returning is Matt Lanter. Lanter voiced Anakin Skywalker in the previous animated series. Paul Bettany, who portrayed Dryden Vos in Solo, is also returning to voice his animated counterpart in the show.
Given the sketchy nature of the source, we would suggest take everything we say with the biggest grain of salt you could find. We still do not believe the series will have a timeline as said in the rumors. There is ample opportunity for Lucasfilm to explore if they decided to spice and shuffle it up a little. To that end, we bring you…..
Should the show happen, these are some possible storylines we want to be shown to us in the Darth Maul Animated series.
Maul’s Rematch With Obi-Wan
The epic battle between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan resulted in the former being cut in half and left for dead. Darth Maul returned soon after, with a cybernetic other half. In the episode “Brothers”, Maul captures and slaughters an entire settlement to draw Obi-Wan out. The story shows how ruthless and extremist in his ways Darth Maul could be. Taking the help of his newfound brother Savage Opress, Maul captures Obi-Wan and shows off his fighting skills, establishing himself as a force of nature in the Star Wars universe.
Conquering Mandalore
Darth Maul joins forces with a group of rebel Mandalorians called the Death Watch faction. Together with their help, Darth Maul intends to take over the planet of Mandalore. In the Season 5 episode “Lawless”, Maul executes the Mandalorian leader Satine Kryze and kills the leader of the Death Watch. He then takes the Darksaber for himself and becomes the de facto leader of Mandalore. Given the fact that the Darksaber will play a vital role in the next season of The Mandalorian, exploring its bloody history via the Darth Maul animated series makes sense.
Darth Maul Fights General Grievous
Unproduced Clone wars episodes were used to make the Son Of Dathomir comic book arc. The series is closely licked to the events of Mandalore. All Star wars prequel era villains – Grievous, Darth Maul, Darth Sidious, Count Dooku, and Mother Talzin ended up crossing paths. This was where Darth Maul faced off against general Grievous. This would make for a good action packed sequence if the Darth Maul animated series ever adapts it.
