There is no doubt that Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Superman is one of the most popular in recent times. However, with the new phase of the DCU world and James Gunn taking up the Superman project, the role is taken up by David Corenswet for the upcoming Superman: Legacy. However, there seems to be a whole lot of difference between the two characters.

Whereas Cavill’s Superman was mostly about being dark and brooding-type, the new one might not be so. And that is exactly what Corenswet seemingly desires too. He has previously opened up about this and even pointed out the similarities between him and the Man of Steel actor in terms of looks.

As DCU is preparing itself for a whole new Superman film with James Gunn taking up the project, it is now confirmed that Pearl actor David Corenswet has taken up the role in the upcoming Superman: Legacy. This is completely different from Henry Cavill’s Superman which first came to the scene back in 2013 with Man Of Steel.

This version of the red-capped superhero is well-liked and popular. But now the viewers will have to brace themselves for a whole new Superman. Apart from the cast, even the atmosphere surrounding the two Superman is supposedly different, with Cavill’s being much darker.

Even before Corenswet was confirmed for the role, he mentioned his goal to portray the Kryptonian hero. Back in 2019, he opened up with EW saying,

” I love the Henry Cavill dark and gritty take, but I would love to see the next one be very bright and optimistic.”

And luckily for the 29-year-old, this seems to be what Gunn has in mind too as he told Variety that the new Superman is going to be someone whom anyone would want to give a “hug”.
