Despite Deadpool being one of the most popular characters in the Marvel universe, Story Time With Deadpool has raised a lot of eyebrows for reasons including the fact that the character is simply unhinged and has a dark humor. The character in the theme park is toned down a bit because of the family-friendly experience, but a recent joke from Deadpool did not sit well with the audience, who were aware that the recent lawsuit involved Disneyland.

Story Time With Deadpool at California’s Disneyland Resort raises eyebrows

Story Time with Deadpool at California’s Disneyland Resort is growing to be the talk of the town. The reason is that the jokes performed during the story time are how people would expect Deadpool to perform. For example, when Wolverine slams Deadpool’s outdated joke, he replies by saying,

My jokes are not outdated. They are hilarious, modern, and unending—just like Splash Mountain.

According to Independent.co.uk, the theme of the ride Splash Mountain was changed after a petition was filed in 2020, and it was described as racist and problematic. More than 21,000 people signed the petition. It was based on the 1946 movie Song of the South, which was one of the most controversial movies of Disney.

It was later renamed Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, based on The Princess and the Frog. Tiana was the first Black princess in Disney. And now, another controversial joke that was said during the Story Time with Deadpool was,

Cinderpool was late because he had to read every single page in the terms and conditions when he signed up for Disney+.

The context for this joke dates back to the wrong death suit involving a 42-year-old New York doctor, Konokporn Tangsuan. According to Independent.co.uk, she passed away in October last year after suffering from a fatal allergic reaction to nuts and dairy after eating at an Irish pub, Raglan Road, in Disney Springs.

The family insisted that they went to the Irish Pub because Disney’s website mentioned that it had ‘allergen-free food’ and they confirmed with the waiter at the time of ordering as well. However, she passed away at the hospital despite self-administering EpiPen, and it was confirmed by the medical examiner that she had died of ‘anaphylaxis due to elevated levels of dairy and nuts in her system.

But Disney asked the Florida court to dismiss the lawsuit brought in by the widow of Dr. Tangsuan. The company stated that the widow, Jeffrey Piccolo, had agreed to settle any lawsuits against the company out of court through the arbitration process when he signed up for a one-month trial of Disney+ in 2019. The company said,

The Terms of Use, which were provided with the Subscriber Agreement, include a binding arbitration clause.

The company explained that it is mentioned on the first page of the Subscriber Agreement ‘in all capital letters’ that if there is any dispute between the subscriber and the company, except for small claims, the issue must be resolved by individual binding arbitration. The company has now mentioned according to Independent.co.uk that it would no longer ask the court to drop the lawsuit after its initial statements sparked outrage.

Deadpool’s joke at California’s Disneyland Resort sparks Internet outrage

It should be noted that the Irish Pub where Dr. Tangsuan had her food is not owned by Disney but it is on Disney property and the family mentioned that House of Mouse website stated that it had allergen-free food. Story Time with Deadpool at California’s Disneyland Resort started to attract the audience, but making a joke about such a sensitive and tragic incident so lightly has sparked outrage among fans online.

A user took to her social media to share,

They’re joking at the expense of the man whose wife was murdered by Disneyland and then was told he couldn’t sue because he accepted the terms and conditions for Disney+.

Another user clarified that ‘this is a Disney employee talking to Disney customers. It’s dark as hell’. A third user mentions that it’s insensitive and disturbing. An X user commented that ‘this feels so evil like the company is making the joke about someone dying at their park’.

However, there were a lot of reactions justifying the joke as well by stating that it’s Deadpool. A user noted, ‘The joke is a shot at Disney, not the other way around.’ Besides, Disney has agreed to settle and take responsibility.

A lot of fans mentioned that the actor, not Ryan Reynolds, but the employee at Disneyland who made the joke for the audience is making fun of Disney and may get fired for it.

Disneyland has not yet commented on the situation. Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in cinemas.
