Denis Villeneuve’s Wish Might Soon Come True as Inside Out 2 is On Its Way to Shatter 2024’s Box Office Records
Denis Villeneuve’s wish could finally come true! Inside Out 2 is expected to break 2024’s box office records. Pixar, the famous studio behind hits like Toy Story and Finding Nemo, is aiming to hit it big again with Inside Out 2 this weekend.
Inside Out 2 is Poised to Break 2024 Box Office Records, Fulfilling Denis Villeneuve’s Wish
Pixar’s new movie Inside Out 2 is coming out and the studio is hoping it will be a big hit. According to Variety, the new movie cost a lot to make, around $200 million. But that’s a good sign because it means the filmmakers put a lot of effort into making it great.
The first Inside Out movie made a ton of money too, over $858 million worldwide (via The Numbers)! Experts think the sequel will do just as well, especially since it’s going to be shown in theaters all over the world at the same time.
With this, the wish of Dune 2 director seems to be coming true. Denis Villeneuve expressed his disappointment that Dune 2 is still the highest-grossing film of 2024 so far. He said (via Deadline):
I’m disappointed to still be number one. … I hope soon that there will be other successes at the box office. I hope, sooner or later, that this summer box office will be much better.
But now, since Inside Out 2 is poised to become a huge hit of 2024, it would make the Canadian filmmaker elated to see his wish coming true. This comes after a few recent movies, like Lightyear and Elemental, didn’t sell as many tickets as Pixar hoped. Elemental even had the worst opening weekend ever for a Pixar movie.
This might be because a few other Pixar movies, like Soul, Luca, and Turning Red, came out on Disney+ instead of in theaters because of the pandemic. People might be more used to watching Pixar movies at home now, so the studio is hoping Inside Out 2 will bring them back to the cinema.
A New Chapter for Riley’s Emotions

The film promises an emotional ride as Riley navigates these new feelings with her familiar friends Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Tony Hale), and Fear (Bill Hader).
