Antoine Fuqua collaborated with Denzel Washington for the third installment of The Equalizer, after a gap of five years. The second chapter of The Equalizer was released in 2018. With great reception and box office numbers, The Equalizer 3 has already become a blockbuster of 2023.
Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer 3 Creates History At The Box Office

The Academy Award-winning actor’s The Equalizer 3 saw its theatrical release in September and the crime drama is on its way to creating a huge impact on the box office.
According to the media and analytics outlet The Hollywood Reporter, the Antoine Fuqua-directed movie has already topped the box office this Labour Day weekend. The movie went on to make $34.5 million from Friday to Sunday starting from its release date on September 1, 2023, making it the second-highest Labor Day opening weekend of all time.

Marvel’s Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings still tops the charts of the best Labour Day release with a collection of $94.6 million on its fourth day. When other stars of his age are struggling with their acting career, Denzel Washington is back in the game with his crime drama The Equalizer 3. Internationally the movie has brought in around $68.1 million.
As Greta Gerwig’s fantasy drama Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer are already scaling up at the box office, with Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer 3 just seeing its theatrical release in September, the movie is bound to become a commercial blockbuster soon.
Antoine Fuqua On The Development Of The Equalizer 4
Filmmaker Antoine Fuqua had a really great time during the filming of The Equalizer 3 on the Italian grounds. During an interview with the reputed media outlet, Total Film, the filmmaker spoke about the third installment of The Equalizer, his rapport with Denzel Washington, and the possibility of the fourth chapter of The Equalizer. He said-
“The church is 700 steps up. When I got there, I said, ‘So, how are we going to get this equipment up the steps? Oh, we use donkeys.’ I didn’t see one donkey in Italy the whole time I was there. There wasn’t a donkey in sight! I saw my crew, with cigarettes dangling out of their mouths carrying equipment up these steps. There was a lot of puking going on.”
While talking about the possibility of the fourth chapter of The Equalizer, Antoine Fuqua said-
“I believe this would be it. We’ve both talked about it that way. But you never know! Listen, Denzel’s in shape. He’s training every day. If you saw him now, it would blow your mind. He’s like 60 pounds lighter, even from The Equalizer. He’s really healthy. Yeah, it’s up to him. Obviously, if he wanted to do another one, I would as well, but I don’t see it. But who knows?”
Denzel Washington would be seen reprising the character of ex-CIA Robert McCall after five years. With an IMDb rating of 7.1 out of 10, The Equalizer 3 is currently running in theatres around the world.
