Among the most lauded filmmakers who have been delighting viewers in the Hollywood industry for decades are Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino.

The news of Tarantino’s retirement has been in the top headlines for a long time. Fans were left wondering whether they will see another film from the Django Unchained filmmaker or not.

The Oppenheimer director had already expressed his desire for Tarantino to continue directing films in the years to come. However, Nolan makes it clear that he understands Tarantino’s decision to retire from the industry.

As we previously noted, Quentin Tarantino‘s desire to retire from the industry has been rumored for quite some time. Specifically, it was claimed that with the release of his tenth directorial effort, The Movie Critic, the Death Proof director will finally bid the industry farewell. However, he clarified that he will be continuing to work on writing books, plays as well as television series, and more.

The Movie Critic is the upcoming big movie by the renowned director. Regarding the release date, it is anticipated to happen in 2024. Even said, the movie’s current pause in production as a result of the SAG-AFTRA strike raises the possibility that the new film’s release date may be postponed.

Talking about the movie maker’s retirement, he shared that he is not willing to decline the overall quality of his movies and also he wished to retire when he is at his top.

Christopher Nolan Shares His View on Quentin Tarantino’s Retirement Plans

After Tarantino made his retirement announcement. During his featuring for Reelblend podcast, Christopher Nolan shared his thoughts on the director’s choice where he mentioned that he wanted to make movies with the Pulp Fiction maker for decades.

Fans initially anticipation that Tarantino will make new movies soon thanks to the Inception director. “And do you believe him?” Nolan asked the podcast hosts about Tarantino’s planned retirement.

However, later the Tenet maker shared that he does understand why Tarantino could be considering retiring. The star shared, “The truth is, I understand both points of view.”

“It’s addictive to tell stories in cinema. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s very fun. It’s something that you feel driven to do, and so it’s a little hard to imagine voluntarily stopping.”

The Dunkirk maker shared that he does understand as well as appreciates the Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood maker’s decision to retire from filmmaking. 

“I’m not sure that I would trust my sense of the absolute value of a piece of work to know whether or not it should have been brought into existence.

“I’m a big fan, as is Quentin, of films that maybe don’t fully achieve what they try to, but there’s something in there that’s a performance, or a little structural thing, or a scene, you know, that’s wonderful. And so, yes, I understand.”

Nolan shared that he really admires the work done by the Inglourious Basterds director. Nolan also related to how Tarantino is valuing his work even though they both have different mindsets for making movies, but still, they do understand how to value their work.
