During the 2019 D23 Expo, the Tropic Thunder star recounted the incident that landed him in jail at Disneyland. While he has been to prison a couple of times, this particular incident stands out from the rest. According to Entertainment Weekly, he said:

“Here’s a bit of trivia for you. The very first time I went to Disneyland I was transported to another place — within moments of being arrested. I was brought to a surprisingly friendly processing center, given a strict warning, and returned to, if memory serves, one very disappointed group chaperone. I’ve been sitting on that shame for a while and I‘m just going to release it here tonight.”

That was some really interesting information for sure and got a laugh from the audience attending the panel. Robert Downey Jr. went on to say that he had been publicly detained for smoking pot while in a gondola. The actor even offered to make peace with whoever it was that had to detain him.

The fact that Robert Downey Jr. has been to Disneyland’s jail is quite hilarious given that he has now worked with Disney for several years. In an interview with GQ, Downey said that although he was done portraying Tony Stark for now, he has not bid adieu to the character for forever. Iron Man’s death seems to be way too important for the MCU for them to bring the character back any time soon. In the meantime, audiences can enjoy the upcoming spin-offs Armor Wars and Ironheart featuring Don Cheadle’s John Rhodes and Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams respectively.
