As per Detective Pikachu, Pokemon has been here since a long time. The live action version featured some scenes with monsters in their natural Pokemon state. For example, some hieroglyphic scenes are featured from Egypt which feature Pikachu.
Detective Pikachu Gives Nods to Founding Pokemon Moments
This may have surprised many fans but the franchise of Pokemon has been creating content since decades. Detective Pikachu gives some nods to the founding moments but then it fails to reference how Pokemon came up with the universe.
As per From the Sinnoh and Hoenn lore, the Pokemon universe started when the nothingness of space gave birth to an egg from which Arceus took birth. Detective Pikachu mentions this creature as the first Pokemon ever. They created three more powerful Pokemon’s who saw time, space and antimatter before many more were created. More Pokemon were created the whole world focused and more of these found themselves made which helped in bringing the success of humanity.

The official synopsis for Pokemon: Detective Pikachu reads as such, “The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself.
