Woody Harrelson Says Matthew McConaughey Could Be His Half Brother
Recently, two of the most talented star performers in Hollywood Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson made a big announcement about their new fascinating project. The actors revealed that they will be starring in an upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series. The Interstellar star appeared on Kelly Ripa’s podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera and shared that the new series is titled Brother From Another Mother, in which he and Harrelson will play lead roles.
In the latest interview with The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Woody Harrelson appeared to promote his series White House Plumbers. The actor also opened up about Matthew McConaughey’s bombshell claims that he can be his biological brother.
The Venom: Let There Be Carnage said,
“Well, I’ll just say there is some veracity to that thought because we talked to Ma’ Mac, Matthew’s legitimate mother, and she let us know one time…I mean, this is crazy. We were in Greece watching the U.S. team win the World Cup and I don’t know, I mentioned something about regrets.”
Harrelson continued,
“And I said, ‘You know, it’s odd that my father has no regrets.’ And I have known Ma’ Mac a long time, and she goes, ‘I knew… your father.’ And it was the ellipses I found a little troubling, or interesting. ‘I knew your father. The year of Matthew’s birth, nine months before, she was on a sabbatical from her relationship with his supposed father, Jim.”
Mathew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have worked together in EDTV and True Detective and now they will be co-starring in the new comedy series. The Triangle of Sadness star also revealed that the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actor is scared to run a DNA test and is afraid to find out the results.
Talking about running a DNA test to confirm if McConaughey and he is Biological Brothers Harrelson said,
“We want to go for a DNA test, but for him, it’s a much more big deal. I mean he feels like he is losing a father. But I’m like, no, you’re gaining a different father and a brother.”
Earlier Mathew McConaughey opened up about Harrelson’s wish for a DNA test. He said,
“Look, it’s a little easier for Woody to say, come on, let’s do DNA tests because what’s the skin in it for him? It’s a little harder for me because he’s asking me to take a chance to go, wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?’ I got a little more skin in the game.”

In a recent interview with Kelly Ripa on the Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, the actor made a bombshell revelation about his co-star Harrelson. According to Dazed and Confused star, Woody Harrelson can be his real-life brother. The remark came as the actor reportedly said his mother allegedly had an intimate relationship with the Cool Blue actor’s father.
Mathew McConaughey said,
“You know, where I start and where he ends, and where he starts and I end, has always been like a murky line. And that’s part of our bromance, right? My kids call him Uncle Woody. His kids call me Uncle Matthew. And you see pictures of us and my family thinks a lot of pictures of him are me. His family thinks a lot of pictures of me are him.”
The actor narrated the story of how he and Harrelson can be related he explained,
“In Greece a few years ago, we’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families. And my mom is there, and she says, ‘Woody, I knew your dad.’ Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew.’ It was a loaded K-N-E-W.”
Mathew McConaughey continued,
“We went on to unpack what this ‘knew’ meant and did some math and found out that Harrelson’s dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce. Then there’s possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, or a meeting, or a moment.”
Talking about their upcoming series, Mathew McConaughey revealed that AppleTV+’s upcoming comedy series Brother from Another Mother is about Woody Harrelson and his family’s life story.
