The first season premiered in 2017 on Netflix and received mixed reviews, which was followed by the premiere of the second season in 2019. The second season was also met with mixed reviews, and a month later, Netflix canceled the show. After Disney regained the license for Marvel content, the series started to stream on Disney+, but fans have noticed one significant change in the series’ title.

From 2015 to 2019, Netflix premiered a total of thirteen seasons of Marvel series, including shows: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher. After Disney acquired the rights, the series were moved to Disney+.

A Reddit user recently pointed out one significant change in The Punisher’s episode streaming on Disney+ compared to when it was streaming on Netflix. They pointed out that the tenth episode of season 2 of The Punisher, starring Jon Bernthal as the titular character, changed its name from The Dark Hearts of Men to The Hearts of Men.

This is not the first time that Disney+ has changed the title of a Marvel Netflix series. Earlier, Jessica Jones, starring actress Krysten Ritter, was retitled AKA Jessica Jones for three seasons. The series, however, was referred to by its original title, Jessica Jones, on the Disney+ home page.

It is unclear why the streaming channel decided to retitle the episode, but according to The Direct’s theory, the change could simply be because the Dark Hearts may have been considered too much for the streaming channel. Neither Disney nor Marvel Studios have responded to the title change. Jon Bernthal will appear as Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, in Daredevil: Born Again.

Jon Bernthal on reprising The Punisher for Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again

The actor spoke to Collider earlier this year, where he talked about returning as fan favorite Frank Castle for Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil: Born Again. He said,

I think there’s a reason why that character has resonated as deeply and strongly as he has. In the hearts and minds of comic book fans first responders people in the military, and people all over the globe, I think there’s a little bit of Frank Castle in everybody. He exists very strongly inside me, and I care deeply about that character.

Bernthal added that he also knows that it’s essential for them to do the character right, and they do have a real sense of integrity to the source material and to what is at the core of Frank. The former The Walking Dead actor mentioned that he is going to do his absolute best to make sure that they do justice to the character and portray him correctly.

The actor’s return to his character for the upcoming series was leaked in the new pictures from the set that went viral online. However, Daredevil: Born Again does not have a release date yet, but previous seasons are available to stream on Disney+.
