Recently, Variety interviewed Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy. During the interview, a lot of NSFW jokes were shared. Unfortunately, the interview also saw Deadpool break the heart of our beloved Wolverine by denying that there was love between them.

During the interview with Variety, Ryan Reynolds was asked by the host about any existing sex*al chemistry or tension between Deadpool and Wolverine. In response, Reynolds said that he has no clear idea about Wolverine, but it’s clear to all that Deadpool has sex*al tension with almost everyone and everything.

Hugh Jackman was offended by this reply as Reynolds didn’t mention the special chemistry that he has with him. After Reynolds’ response to the question, Jackman joked, “Don’t deny this is special.”

As soon as Jackman finished his sentence, Reynolds immediately picked it up and further joked that there indeed is a special bond between Deadpool and Wolverine, just like two magnets facing the wrong direction.

Director Levy was quick to add that Deadpool is a fan of Wolverine which drives him crazy, both on and off-screen. However, he also mentioned that it’s more of a fanboy love, which would imply that the Merc with a Mouth looks up to the X-Men character.

Hugh Jackman responded positively to the interviewer’s question about whether he wanted to be featured as Wolverine again. Jackman mentioned that initially, he didn’t miss the character much and then one day, he was restless about it and wanted to get into the shoes of Wolverine as soon as possible.

I didn’t miss it for a long time. And then, literally, it came to me one day as I was driving down to the beach. I knew I wanted to do this. I literally stopped the car, got out and called Ryan.

When Reynolds inquired over a call if he was serious about it, Jackman confirmed that he was dead serious about playing Wolverine again. Through Deadpool & Wolverine, he got a wonderful opportunity to get back into the business as the iron-clawed superhero.

The Les Miserables actor ended his answer by mentioning that he told Reynolds and Levy that there had to be a good reason for the movie to exist as he, more than anyone, was overwhelmed with joy.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be in theatres on July 26, 2024.
