“Don’t know why they’d ever vote for him”: The View’s Joy Behar Invites PR Nightmare after Claiming Ohio Toxic Train Accident a Result of Voting for Donald Trump
The OG daytime talk show The View is renowned for putting forward daily topics with a pinch of humor. The show has gotten more political ever since former President Donald Trump came into power. The show is co-hosted by popular American comedian Joy Behar. The outspoken liberal Joy Behar is known for her unfiltered opinions, which are often political.
Previously, Behar caught the audience’s attention with her controversial statement about the residents of East Palestine who voted for Donald Trump. The comedian claimed that the toxic train derailment was a result of voting for Donald Trump in the presidential elections.

Why did Joy Behar’s statement shock the audience?
Joy Behar is the co-host of the ABC daytime talk show The View. Apart from its intriguing concept, the show is also known for its controversial statements. Ever since Trump came into power, it seems like the hosts of the show were not so impressed by the decision. Donald Trump was elected to lead the country in 2016, and following that, he has often been in the headlines.

During the show, Behar made a controversial statement that shocked the audience. Behar suggested that the residents of East Palestine are the cause of destruction in the town since they chose to vote for Donald Trump. The 80-year-old comedian further implied that the cause of the Ohio toxic train wreck was the former president’s actions in the White House. She said,
“I don’t know why they would ever vote for him, for somebody who, by the way, he placed someone with deep ties to the chemical industry in charge of the EPA’s chemical safety office. That’s who you voted for in that district. Donald Trump, who reduces all safety.”

Joy Behar debated Donald Trump’s actions
After Joy Behar’s comment, the panel was divided into two sets of opinions. Few hosts debated whether Trump was right, while the other anchors supported Behar’s statement. The discussion was over the train derailment that occurred on February 3, 2023, in East Palestine, Ohio, United States. The incident caused the contamination of approximately 1.1 million gallons of water and 15,000 pounds of soil. The question raised during the discussion was about the political response to the tragedy.

Following the incident, the former president visited the town to check whether the work was in progress or not. Behar claimed Trump’s visit was a photo op stunt. On the contrary, co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines asserted that Trump showing up is a big deal for the East Palestine community. To this, Behar said,
“That’s called chutzpah! It’s his fault and then he shows up.” Co-host Sunny Hostin supported Behar’s claim and said, “I think this is Donald Trump’s fault.”
Currently, former president Donald Trump is making headlines after being charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York.
