Developed by Diane Ademu-John and Alison Schapker, Dune: Prophecy is a science fiction series set in Frank Herbert’s Dune universe. A six-episode prequel of the movie is reportedly in line with HBO’s Game of Thrones, specifically because of its political scheming among the cast of morally gray characters. Dune: Prophecy star Josh Heuston took inspiration from Prince Harry for Constantine Carrino
In an interview with Collider, Josh Heuston, who plays Constantine Carrino in HBO’s Dune: Prophecy set in Frank Herbert’s Dune universe, shares how his character on the show is connected with a Royal Family member.
Heuston was asked alongside actress Sarah-Sofie Boussnina and Chris Mason about a detail or a backstory they developed for their respective characters, which is very important to them. The actor added,
Earlier in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, the actor mentioned that he and the actress Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, who plays Princess Ynez on the show, had spoken about other royal houses and families. He mentioned that he looked up to Prince Harry as an example because it’s rare to be able to find a look into siblings who are also both in line to be royals.
The actor noted that Prince Harry’s book Spare gave him a lot of insights into how that would feel on a personal level. He added that when people look at them on YouTube, they put up a different façade for the public, but his book was raw. Heuston mentioned during the interview;
Josh Heuston also shared he had looked into the Indian caste system for research, explaining that his character goes between the upper echelons of the society and the lower ranks. So, he’s kind of trying to build the Dune universe, which is at such a grand scale but also has much more intimate drama at the same time.
Talking about his landing the role, he had shared that getting to play Constantine Corrino was incredible, especially when the show has actors including Emily Watson and Olivia Williams.
Josh Heuston says, ‘Constantine Carrino has a desire for purpose’
During his interview with Collider, the actor was asked if his character had no purpose if it was just an outsider’s view of him, or if he had a purpose. Heuston mentioned that Constantine Carrino has a desire for purpose, but when the audience meets him in the early stages of the series, he’s still navigating the same.
Heuston noted that Constantine has a reputation for being a bit of a playboy not having ambition and getting up to no good. But in reality, he aspires to have a purpose, but he hasn’t found that path yet.
While speaking to ScreenRant, he was asked about his character in Dune: Prophecy navigating the complicated relationship with his father. The actor noted that Constantine’s relationship with his father influences a lot of his decisions. He added that the character is constantly trying to seek his father’s approval, and from the way their relationship is built, he can never seem to get that.
Heuston also acknowledged that because there are a lot of insecurities lying in the fact that Constantine’s father gives him, he explains it’s why the character hasn’t picked a specific side. He is trying to figure that out, which, according to the actor, leads to his downfall.
