Dwayne Johnson Joins The Board Of Directors Of TKO

TKO or Technical KnockOut, is a sports and entertainment company that owns World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The CEO of TKO group, Ariel Emanuel recently announced that Dwayne Johnson a. k. a. The Rock has joined the TKO group as a board member.

In a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter), Emanuel said of his partnership with Dwayne Johnson:

“I am thrilled to partner with Dwayne and welcome his immense talent to TKO’s Board. Dwayne brings an incredible track record of creating content and building globally recognized consumer brands, and he will play a key role in realizing our ambitions for TKO.”

On top of that, the company is also allowing Johnson to have full ownership of his trademarked in-ring name The Rock. Doing so is part of a merchandise agreement between the company and the wrestler.

In addition to that, TKO group has also promised a 30 million-dollar award to Johnson for signing the agreement contract. Also, Johnson will always be free to gain royalties with sales of The Rock merchandise.

The TKO group wants Johnson to use his trademark name The Rock how he wants and deems fit. According to Emanuel’s statement, this partnership aims at the larger goal of the agreement. WWE founder and TKO executive chairman Vince McMahon believes that Johnson understands the convergence of sports, entertainment, media, and business. This will surely help the company reach new heights.
