Why did Dwayne Johnson Demand Henry Cavill To Be Brought Back As Superman?

The Jumanji actor wanted Henry Cavill to be back as Superman during the making of Black Adam. During an interview with the media outlet Variety, Dwayne Johnson mentioned how the producers tried their best to get back Henry Cavill on board. He said-

“We fought for years to bring you back. They always said no. But for [producers] Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia & myself ‘no’ was never an option. We can’t intelligently & strategically build out our DC Universe without the greatest superhero of all time. Because for us, the fans will always come first.”

Dwayne Johnson had a major plan for the Black Adam sequel and according to the reports, the script of the second chapter of The Black Adam was completed in November 2022. The Fast And Furious actor even spoke about the face-off between the two main characters of the sequel, Superman and Black Adam. He further continued-

And when that time comes then I’m sure, to bring it all the way back to your great question, myself and Henry Cavill, I’m sure we’ll get after it in the gym and as you said we will in fact break the internet.”

The producer duo of Black Adam Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia revealed that they were looking forward to roping in Henry Cavill’s Superman in Dwayne Johnson’s movie sequel. Hiram Garcia mentioned-

Our vision is, what we really want to establish is Superman exists in the same world as Black Adam… Both those guys exist in the same universe and that’s important for us. It’s in the universe where our JSA is and so forth. But we really wanted the world to know that these guys are going to cross paths and how we do it, we’re still working on it. We don’t want to give that away. But I will say that it’s much bigger than what people think.

With DC in the hands of James Gunn and Peter Safran, the duo is looking forward to revamping everything at the multi-million dollar franchise. From storytelling techniques to introducing new faces in the universe, DC’s new and young version is in process.

What Is The Future Of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam?

A lot was going on for the sequel of Black Adam as Dwayne Johnson had a master plan which even featured one of the most loved actors in Hollywood, Henry Cavill. According to the Baywatch actor’s plan, a Black Adam and Superman confrontation was supposed to be one of the highlights of the sequel.

After James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC, Henry Cavill was eliminated from the franchise as the duo wanted a fresh and young face for Superman. Currently, James Gunn is busy working on Superman: Legacy and there are no plans for a sequel to Dwayne Johnsosn’s Black Adam. According to the speculations, one of the major reasons for no second chapter of Black Adam is its failure at the box office.
