Ebon Moss-Bachrach Had the Wittiest Response About His Prep to Play The Thing in Fantastic Four
Ebon Moss-Bachrach is popularly known for his character portrayal as Richie Jerimovich, a.k.a. Cousin, in the Jeremy Allen White starrer The Bear. His exceptional work in the comedy-drama series earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Moss-Bachrach also earned a Golden Globe nomination for his work on the show, which returns on June 27, 2024, for its third season.
The actor has also appeared in movies including Sharp Stick, No Hard Feelings, We’ll Never Have Paris, and more. The Bear actor is now gearing up for his upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe’s The Fantastic Four and recently shared his preparations for the movie.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach talks about his preparations for portraying The Thing in The Fantastic Four
Ebon Moss-Bachrach recently appeared on The Daily Show to promote season three of The Bear. He was asked about his preparations for the highly anticipated The Fantastic Four, starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn. He said,
Yeah. I’m playing Ben Grimm, who becomes The Thing, who is a man encased in rock. So yeah, I don’t know; I’ve just been looking at rocks. I should maybe take a trip out there to Stonehenge.
The actor further talks about his preparation for the part and shares that he has been reading a lot of comics, adding that they’re nice. Moss-Bachrach told the hosts that the studios have given him the Marvel Unlimited thing, where he can just go on his iPad and go to any comic book that Marvel has released and read it.
The actor has previously appeared in an episode of The Punisher, which also falls under the Marvel Universe. Talking about that, he added that he did a Marvel thing for Netflix years ago called The Punisher. The plot details of the movie remain unclear as of now, but if comic books are considered, the four astronauts were remade into superheroes after they were exposed to cosmic rays in space. The Fantastic Four is scheduled for release in July 2025.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach says he protects Jeremy Allen White from the attention
Ahead of The Bear’s season three premiere, Ebon Moss-Bachrach in a recent interview with The Guardian expressed his opinion on the success of the show along with stating how he has to protect Jeremy Allen White. He said,
I was on top of a little mountain outside Kyoto, and a Korean couple came up to me and said how much they loved the show. I get a lot of comments. People yell ‘Cousin’ at me all day.
The actor talks about Allen White, who plays Carmen Berzatto on the show, mentioning that he’s not sure if he can say that he’s happy for him because he thinks it’s all ridiculous. Moss-Bachrach added that he tries to support him and protect him when fans get too excited upon seeing him. He further added in the interview that when asked if the show has capitalized on the food culture,
I think the Bear is a small part of it. I don’t find The Bear to be like food porn or anything. I thought a lot of food looked pretty nasty in the first season, to be honest. I put more of that stuff on TikTok and Chef’s Table. I point my fingers at them.
When asked what the audience can expect from season three, the actor replied that he just does not want the audience to feel let down by anything. He added that he has much interaction with people, and hearing those stories inspired him about the power of telling stories. Ebon Moss-Bachrach added that hearing such stories from people invigorated him and renewed his faith in his job.
