The brand-new Marvel series Echo was released earlier this week on Tuesday, January 9. The series introduced deaf Native American superhero Maya Lopez, played by Alaqua Cox. Echo stars Cox as Maya, along with Vincent D’Onofrio returning as crime boss Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin. The show expanded the street-level Marvel universe while exploring Maya’s background and her feud with Fisk.

The series showcases the complex history between Lopez and her adopted father figure Kingpin. Despite causing Lopez’s father’s death, Kingpin takes her in and sharpens her fighting skills but upon learning the truth, she turns against Fisk. Without giving away further details of the show, let’s dive into the breakdown of the post-credit scene which has left us with many questions.

Echo post-credit scene explained

As Kingpin escapes on his private jet following the completion of the show, he watches a news report about the mayoral race for New York City. He finds out that it’s lacking any standout candidates. The newscaster shares that he thinks New York wants a “bare-knuckle brawler,” Kingpin realizes that he is the perfect person to lead the city he calls home.

This makes us wonder if this could be the setup for Daredevil: Born Again. The forthcoming series is still under wraps on specifics with storylines but it looks like Fisk’s venture into politics aligns with his comic book references.

In a run of Daredevil comics known as Mayor Fisk, Kingpin runs for office and wins. He turns his sights on the devil of Hell’s Kitchen. While nothing is confirmed at the moment, only time will tell for certain if the upcoming show will continue this idea and incorporate it into the story or not.

How to watch Echo?

As mentioned earlier, Echo was released last Tuesday, January 9. All five episodes of the show were released at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT on both Disney+ and Hulu. As far as early reviews go, it has been all praise for Echo’s representation and action scenes. It marks a highly anticipated expansion of street-level Marvel heroes like Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
