After watching Jesse Eisenberg’s 2013 interview with a young blogger Romina Puga for Univision, fans are wondering if he is truly a bad person or just bad at flirting. During the press junket for his movie Now You See Me, Eisenberg interacted with Puga, who he labeled as the “Carrot Top of Interviewers.” Although Puga was ill-prepared for the interview and even had points written on her hand, it was unfair and disrespectful on Eisenberg’s part.

Jesse Eisenberg Almost Made Romina Puga Cry

When Puga started talking about the movie and other actors starring in it, she referred to veteran actor Morgan Freeman just by his last name. Jesse Eisenberg jumped to the opportunity and made fun of her for referring to the actor as her “buddy.”

“Freeman? What are you on a baseball team with him? Don’t call Morgan Freeman ‘Freeman’ like you’re on a little league softball team with him.”

The conversation, in the beginning, is all fun and games as Puga also partakes in the humor. But it soon goes downhill when The Social Network actor references Puga to the comedian Carrot Top. He goes on to justify his comment by saying that “it’s a good thing.”

Puga subsequently says, “I’m going to go cry now.” Eisenberg did not take the hint and instead kept the berating going. He replies,

“Don’t cry now, cry after the interview is over. Otherwise, it’ll look like I’m responsible for it.”

The insult did not end here. Since the show is named Say My Name Is Romina, Puga asked him to look towards the camera and say her name as if he wanted to find her in a crowd. To this, Eisenberg whispered her name instead saying, “The thing is I didn’t want to find you. I was hoping to stay alone.”

Jesse Eisenberg Is Known To Be Insulting

Ever since Eisenberg embodied Mark Zuckerberg in the 2010 movie The Social Network, he perhaps has forgotten to get out of character. Many people have labeled him a “condescending jerk” since he does not understand the difference between being funny and being insulting. Many actors are known to say dumb things in interviews, but when it becomes a usual thing, fans understand that it’s not situational and they see a pattern.

His attitude seems disdainful of people who he believes are beneath him, hence being perceived as scornful. The actor’s interaction with Puga off-camera was not so great either. As reported by Business Insider, the interviewer wrote in a blog later on,

When the five minute “interview” (more like self-esteem butchering) were finally over I went behind a curtain to wait for the memory cards from the interview. I peaked around the curtain to ask Jesse about his neighborhood in New York (he lives a few blocks from where I used to live) and he immediately says, “You’re still here?”

There have been mixed comments on the interview where some sympathized with his frustration because Puga’s performance as the interviewer was abysmal, whereas others looked down upon Eisenberg’s behavior.
