Elvis Impersonating Relative Changed Ryan Gosling’s Life Before Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi Took Over the Role
Ryan Gosling is one of the most popular actors in Hollywood. Over the past three decades of his career, he has won numerous accolades including a Golden Globe Award. He also won two Academy Award nominations; one for his portrayal of a drug-addict junior high school teacher in 2006’s Half Nelson and the other for the portrayal of a struggling jazz pianist in the 2016 romance musical La La Land.
Ryan Gosling was never a fan of school and dropped out of high school early on to pursue a career in Hollywood at the mere age of 17. His performance in The Mickey Mouse Club as a child actor helped him land a role in the Fox Kids adventure series Young Hercules. He once revealed his inspiration for his acting career to be his uncle.
Ryan Gosling’s Inspiration For His Acting Career
Children often take inspiration from those who are around them. Growing up, Ryan Gosling was a lonely kid and was often bullied in school. He had started performing early on as he would perform on singing talent shows along with his older sister Mandi.
During the Los Angeles premiere of La La Land, Ryan Gosling attributed his interest in acting to his uncle who used to impersonate Elvis Presley. He told ET Online‘s Carly Steel: “My uncle was an Elvis impersonator and I was in his act when I was 8. He was wonderful and an inspiration to me, so that was fun.”
The Blade Runner 2049 actor went on to say that despite his background in performing, it was quite hard to learn the ballroom-style dancing for his character in La La Land. Speaking of this, he told Carly Steel:
“’90s hip hop is a little different from soft shoe and all the other stuff that they asked us to do here. I thought maybe some of that might help, but it really didn’t. It was like starting all over again.”

Gosling credited his mother for being his support system throughout his acting career, no matter how many ups and downs he had to go through. Even his co-star Emma Stone said that her mother was the one whose support helped her career reach great heights.
Ryan Gosling Found Inspiration Through TV
Ryan Gosling is now a global star and with his Kenergetic performance in Barbie, he is most probably up for winning an Oscar. From a child actor to an A-lister, his journey in Hollywood has been rather inspiring and applaud-worthy.
The Notebook actor once revealed that he was homeschooled by his mother for some time due to his trouble with school. Being a lonely child, TV played a great role in his life. He told the New York Daily News:
“Then, one day, I saw Raquel Welch on ‘The Muppet Show.’ She was dancing with this big furry spider and I immediately fell in love. She was the first crush I ever had, and I thought, ‘How do I get to meet this woman?’ And then I thought, ‘Well, she’s on TV, so to meet her I have to get on TV myself.”
TV is just a source of entertainment for millions of people but being the amazing person Gosling is, he took inspiration from it and went on to become one of the highest-grossing actors in Hollywood.
