Emily Blunt Wants To Do A Sequel With The Mission Impossible Star

During the promotion of her movie Oppenheimer on Josh Horowitz’s Happy, Sad, Confused podcast,  Emily Blunt spoke about working with the Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise in Edge Of Tomorrow. She expressed her wish to work on the sequel with the legendary star. She openly spoke about looking forward to working with Tom Cruise in the near future for the sequel of the sci-fi action drama. She said-

 “There was one that Doug [Liman] kind of slithered over to me. I mean, I would love to make it a reality but I just don’t know when or how. And how many Mission Impossibles does he [Cruise] need,”

She further added, “Come back to the side where you can be … like wasn’t he brilliant as the cowardly hero? Incredible.” Blunt said she is “so ready” for the sequel, clarifying she is “not the impediment, I promise.”

The Doug Liman-directed sci-fi action drama was released in 2014 with Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise in the pivotal roles. The movie dealt with Major William Cage played by Tom Cruise, who was entrusted with the responsibility of saving the planet from an alien invasion after he gets stuck in a time loop. He is accompanied by a warrior Rita Vrataski, played by Emily Blunt.

Emily Blunt Feels Grateful For Her Association With Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has already become both a commercial and critical hit. The biographical drama made headlines ever since its first trailer was released. Emily Blunt played the role of the fiery and feisty Kitty Oppenheimer, the wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer played by the Peaky Blinders star. During an interview with the entertainment outlet Total Film, The Devil Wears Prada star spoke about her character and its significance in the storytelling of the iconic theoretical physicist. She said-

“I mean – it’s one of the best parts that anyone has ever written for me. Not that he wrote it for me, but he wrote an exquisite part that is so layered. Even though she’s not a huge part, it packs a punch. I was so excited by her. And the thing that I love is that he wasn’t concerned with her being likable, it was just a very real interpretation of the character.”

“When you read about her in the book, they say that ‘Kitty didn’t do small talk, she only did big talk’ which is so symbolic of the character. I really remember reading that and thinking, ‘That’s it, she’s so clear’. Usually, I think women in movies have to be sort of quite likable and warm, but she wasn’t either of those things, and he was unafraid of that and writing her as such. I just loved her.”

Emily Blunt’s Kitty Oppenheimer is one of those characters in Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus project that sets the screen on fire with her presence and dialogue. Oppenheimer is already moving upwards on the box-office ladder.

Oppenheimer is successfully running in theatres across the globe.
