Emily Blunt Still Hopeful for Her Sci-Fi Sequel With Tom Cruise Despite Being Called a ‘P–sy’ by Mission Impossible Star While Filming
Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise starrer 2014 sci-fi Edge Of Tomorrow is a gem in the genre. It was a blockbuster through and through. Shooting the film was a challenge every day for the actors but the trouble paid off when the film smashed the box office. Blunt’s experience in particular was nothing short of traumatic. And even though her chemistry with co-star Cruise was off the charts, the pair’s relationship started weird as Cruise made an off-handed comment towards Blunt.
The talk of a sequel had been heavy since the movie’s immense success. And it still makes rounds here and there. Despite the challenges of filming, Emily Blunt is more than willing to resume her role as Rita Vrataski.
Tom Cruise Called Emily Blunt A P*ssy
Edge of Tomorrow is a sci-fi thriller, where humanity is facing a threat from extraterrestrial beings called the Mimics. The movie was a depiction of an apocalypse and the actors had to gear up for a battle with the aliens. For which, they donned suits that weighed about eighty pounds.
Putting the suit on for the first time during rehearsals and the idea of having to do action sequences in them sent Blunt into a set of panic and she started crying. She recalls having a conversation with Tom Cruise:
“I was like, ‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and just started to cry. I said, ‘I’m feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.’
Tom Cruise had a bizarre and hilarious reaction to Blunt’s state,
“He just stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, ‘Come on, stop being such a p–sy, ok?’”
This remark subsided Blunt’s panic and caused her to laugh. She remembers training being intense and adventurous at the same time. She is keen on taking more challenges for an Edge of Tomorrow 2.
Emily Blunt is Up for more of Edge of Tomorrow
The Mary Poppins actress’ experience on the set of Edge of Tomorrow was strenuous. And yet she is ready to resume her action-packed role as Sergeant Vrataski. But there seems to be a reluctance from Warner Bros. studios. Blunt says a sequel was talked of.
“We wanted to. Honestly, I think the movie’s too expensive. Yeah, I don’t know how we’re going to do it, I think that it’s hard to align everyone’s schedules. I would love it. [Director] Doug Liman would love it. Tom would love it. We’d all love to do it, but I think until we figure out what’s going on with the industry – honestly, I think we need to figure out what is the next road map for the kinds of films that people want to make.”
