Ethan Hawke Has Been Set Up As A Fan-Favorite In Moon Knight Trailer
In a matter of two short months, Moon Knight will be hitting Disney+, serving as the foremost Marvel Studios content that fans will get this year. The initial trailer for Moon Knight arrived on Monday—during a full moon, — giving fans their first-ever full look at the series. While Oscar Isaac‘s vigilante was widely known throughout, the teaser gives some glimpses of other actors—like the mysterious antagonist, played by Ethan Hawke.
Who is Ethan Hawke?
The captioning reveals Hawke’s character is named Arthur Harrow, who is an obscure character that has appeared in a single issue in the Marvel comics mythos. As seen in the easer, however, Harrow has som cult members literally bowing at his very feet, teasing the character is doubling as another, Moon Knight villain.
In the Moon Knight series from Jacen Burrows and Max Bemis, the Sun King rounded up followers and started a cult. While Ethan Hawke doesn’t really entirely take the part, these two roles appear awfully similar—and Hawke himself had previously said that he had modeled his performance after the cult leader, David Koresh, the cult leader of the Branch Davidians, the religious sect behind the 1993′ Waco siege.
“I’ve based my character on David Koresh,” Hawke told Seth Myers last year “Yeah, so I mean, I guess it’s working. I totally wanted a Camero, you know? I want to ride in on a Camero. I can’t believe you, I mean, you’re good Seth. Or maybe I’m not out of character yet… I don’t know if we want to be on record saying that. But, I will say, he is the basis of great character inspiration, however.
Moon Knight premiere on Disney+ on March 30th.
