Joseph Quinn, who plays Eric in the recently released A Quiet Place: Day One alongside Lupita Nyong’o, shared his experience of working on an apocalyptic horror film. He also mentioned how he got a chance to work with someone he never thought he’d end up working with—cats. In his interview with Men’s Health, the actor said,

We didn’t stand a chance with those two cats. They were amazing. I have never acted with a cat before. This was my first time, and I learned a lot. They were brilliant.

Upon asking what drew him towards the character of Eric, Quinn mentioned that, firstly, it was director Michael Sarnoski, who is known for his 2021 movie Pig. Secondly, talking about the character, Quinn added that they wanted to create characters that the audience could really invest in.

The actor mentioned that he found it interesting that the audience would have two peculiar and unconventional heroes against the backdrop of an apocalyptic epic. Quinn said that all of this was only possible with Sarnoski’s well-observed writing.

Joseph Quinn added to the conversation that he does not know how individuals do it when asked about using their facial expressions to showcase emotions, as the concept of A Quiet Place is to limit the lines. He continued that it’s all about listening to what is happening in front of you and trying to react truthfully. Quinn noted that one cannot think or plan anything with facial expressions, as that would feel too contrived.

Joseph Quinn shares little detail on his preparation for Marvel’s The Fantastic Four

The actor will be playing Johnny Storm in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four alongside Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. During a Men’s Health interview, he was asked about his preparations for the movie, to which he said,

I have been training for a little while now. We’ve got another few weeks, and I’ve got a wonderful trainer named Tim, who is brilliant and is making me do all the things I don’t want to do. We’re not going for anything enormous physically, he just needs to look the part, and slowly, slowly, we’re getting there.

Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan have previously played the character of Johnny Storm on-screen in 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2015’s Fantastic Four, respectively. Quinn understands the shoes he’s stepping into. He shared that he did not have the chance to get in touch with them.

The Stranger Things actor noted that for him, it was important to have respect and appreciation for the people who had portrayed the character earlier, but his intention now is to make it his own. Joseph Quinn also added that he’s delighted to work with the cast of The Fantastic Four, which is scheduled for release in July 2025.
