Even The Dark Knight Has Fallen Prey to ‘Barbie Wave’ as Margot Robbie Movie Annihilates With $356M Collection
The million-dollar figure you just saw is incredibly amazing, right? No doubt it’s the summer blockbuster that is making pink waves all over the globe with a whopping profit leaving behind Christopher Nolan’s previous movie. Barbie is everything and she can do anything, that’s what Barbie said and it’s becoming true in this world too.
This movie is set to break records as it just did for some and shockingly it’s Christopher Nolan’s previous movie which is hit by Barbie and who knows it will break how many more records in the coming days. Let’s dig into this and see how Barbie did it.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie Movie Secures Another Record
The newly-released fantasy comedy starring Margot Robbie is rewriting the record book, this time at the expense of a Christopher Nolan‘s classic. Barbie earned $26 million domestically on Jul. 24, marking the highest-grossing Monday for Warner Bros in history. The previous Monday’s high was set by Nolan’s The Dark Knight, one of the highest-grossing superhero films, having earned over $1 billion worldwide. Following its first four days in theaters, Barbie has far exceeded box-office expectations, earning over $356 million worldwide on a budget of up to $145 million. Were you ever ready for this to happen? Not even Nolan was.
Christopher Nolan began his partnership with Warner Bros. in 2002 with his film Insomnia. Since then, he worked with WB for years, collaborating with them on The Dark Knight trilogy and his original films, such as Inception, Interstellar, and most recently, Tenet. But Nolan left Warner Bros. in 2021 and made his ongoing movie starring Cillian Murphy with Universal Pictures earning $95 million domestically and over $182 million globally so far on a $100 million budget.
Barbie Versus Oppenheimer, who’s gonna win?
Both the movie hit the theatres on the same day exceeding expectations with whooping collections. But who’s ahead of who? As of now, Barbie is winning over Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Barbenheimer collected $235.5 million in a single weekend, representing the fourth highest-selling box office opening in history and this is just a week’s collection they might turn the tables for other blockbuster movies leaving them smashed.
In the case of Mattel’s Barbie, it was a 14-year-old journey that began at Universal where the celebrities who were almost cast but got replaced by others and writers changed and evolved the script, it has been a long way for Greta Gerwig and of course the amazing cast of this fantasy.
