Every Confirmed Character For Across the Spider-Verse
After the jaw-dropping success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, fans have been eagerly waiting for the movie’s sequel. Sony has revealed that the film will be split into two parts. The first one is set to release on 7th October 2022.
The first look at the trailer for Across the Spider-Verse shows Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy back together and journeying through the multiverse before they meet Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099). Many heroes could be appearing in the film and here are the confirmed ones (both familiar and new faces).
1. Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099
This was probably one of the most exciting things from the Across the Spider-Verse teaser trailer. Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099, was seen in the web-slinging mode for the first time. He is seen swinging through a mysterious cityscape as he is battled or pursued by Miles in his Spidey costume.
The character had appeared during the post-credits scene of Into the Spider-Verse, where he developed the technology to travel across the worlds and even visit another Earth. The post-credits gave us a hint that Miguel would become an important part of the franchise.
2. Takuya Yamashiro aka Japanese Spider-Man
Phil Lord (writer and producer of Spider-Verse films) teased Japenese Spider-Man’s appearance in Across the Spider-Verse. But we are still not sure if it is going to be a cameo or a larger appearance.
Takuya Yamashiro first appeared in the Japanese TV series Spider-Man (1978- 1979). This gave rise to his popularity in Japan in a show that went on to utilize his iconic costume. Meanwhile, his presence could allow the makes to explore some alternative Spider-Man tales.
3. Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman
Issa Rae is the voice of Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. This marks the character’s movie debut decades after her animated TV series which ran back in 1979-1980.
She has a long-running comic history which means that there are some things about the character that only the comic book fans are aware of. Hopefully, her appearance in this movie will help popularise her character.
4. Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Gwen/ Spider-Woman
Gwen is returning and that just gives us another reason to look forward to the upcoming release. She will be the center of a female hero-led Spider-Verse spinoff.
Her experience falls between Miles’ and Peter B. Parker’s. She even acted as a kind of intermediary during Into the Spider-Verse. Gwen showcased heroism that Miles could aspire to.
5. Peter B. Parker aka Spider-Man
Jake Johnson aka Peter B. Parker’s voice actor has confirmed his return for the Spider-Verse sequel which will offer fans another chance to see the older version of the classic Spider-Mna.
After the vents of the previous film, Peter B. Parker has a renewed sense of purpose and a much more positive outlook on life. He visited Mary Jane and made efforts to repair their relationship. He will probably be seen giving more lessons to the younger heroes helping them deal with the upcoming challenges.
6. Miles Morales aka Spider-Man
Miles Morales aka the protagonist was one of the best characters and will of course be appearing in the sequels to continue his journey after becoming Spider-Man.
After dealing with his uncle’s death, it seems that Miles will still be dealing with grief in Across the Spider-Verse. Meanwhile, no villain has been yet confirmed for the movie and the trailer indicates that his initial meeting with Spider-Man 2099 might not exactly be friendly.
