Mission Impossible Director Christopher McQuarrie On Working With Tom Cruise

Director Christopher McQuarrie has been the brain behind the three installments of the super spy franchise- Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The actor-director duo has produced some of the most terrifying stunts of all time. During the promotion of Mission Impossible 7, the director spoke about the safety measures and the precautions that are taken during the filming of the death-defying stunts executed by Tom Cruise. He said to Collider-

“They all have their own risks, and it’s not always what you perceive the risk to be. For example, with the A400, the concern was less that Tom would fall off the plane than he would be hit by a rock on the runway or a bird when we were in mid-air. So there’s all of these different factors and variables that you’re constantly thinking about that could go wrong outside of all the variables that you’ve eliminated.”

He further continued-

“The more variables, the scarier the stunt. I think that’s kind of, to me, what makes it terrifying is how many different ways Tom could be killed doing the stunt, but they’re all known. They’re all things that you’ve thought about and can’t control. Going off that ramp, he was entering the unknown. We had eliminated everything we possibly could. We just didn’t know what would actually happen when he did it because we could, in no way, shape, or form, test or replicate those conditions anywhere else.”

Tom Cruise has been entertaining us with the Mission Impossible franchise for over two decades. He has been the face of Ethan Hunt, ever since the inception of the franchise.
