Warner Bros is in talks with the sequel of Will Smith’s I Am Legend. Based on a 20th-century classic novel by author Richard Matheson, the movie is one of the best projects of the actor’s acting career. The speculations around the King Richard actor coming along with another prominent star for the million-dollar franchise are doing the rounds.
Is Michael B. Jordan A Part Of Will Smith’s I Am Legend’s Sequel?
It is next to impossible to imagine any other playing the character of Dr. Robert Neville in I Am Legend except for Will Smith. With the speculations around the development of I Am Legend 2, the addition of Creed actor Michael B. Jordan is on the cards. During an appearance on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast by Josh Horowitz, director Francis Lawerence spoke about the prequel. He said-
“I saw very quickly after the movie came out, and I went, ‘People came to see the last man on earth. We’ve done the last man on earth, he died at the end of the movie, we can’t do it again.’ But people weren’t in love with him as a character. It’s not Indiana Jones, like this kind of iconic character that you just want to see again and again and again. And it just felt forced to do a prequel.”
Aladdin actor had mentioned that he was done with the franchise, but the latest pitch brought him back to reprising one of his celebrated roles in his Hollywood career. During an interview with a reputed media outlet, Deadline, Will Smith said-
“The idea came up. I can’t talk about it yet. But it’s a really, really cool concept and [Michael B. Jordan] was a part of creating the idea. It was one of those I was gonna leave alone, and then I head the idea. But that might work, I think we can do that.”
Not much has been revealed about I Am Legend 2, but based on the latest development it can be assumed that Michael B. Jordan would be seen playing a survivor from the New York settlement after the mutant outbreak wiped off the city.

With the sequel of Will Smith’s I Am Legend back in the spotlight, fans cannot contain their excitement. They are on their toes and want to know about the upcoming sequel-from the cast to the plot. Based on the minor details of the sequel of the upcoming post-apocalyptic drama, the plot could be expected to be a bit different from the first installment. During a 2022 interview conducted by media outlet Deadline, producer Jon Mone spoke about the plot of the I Am Legend 2. He mentioned-
“It is an unbelievably cool idea, an idea that made [Will] and Akiva believe that it was worth telling another story. I really can’t say [if it’s based on any of the graphic novels], but it’s based on the minds of Will, and Akiva, and Michael B. Jordan, who came up with this incredible angle on how you can continue that story.”
Even writer Akiva Goldsman revealed-
“This will start a few decades later than the first,” he said. “I’m obsessed with ‘The Last of Us,’ where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20-30-year lapse. You see how the earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as man steps away from being the primary tenant, what happens? That will be especially visual in New York. I don’t know if they’ll climb up to the empire state building, but the possibilities are endless.”
Made on a budget of $150 million, I Am Legend went on to collect $585.4 million worldwide. With an IMDb rating of 7.2 out of 10, I Am Legend is available on Amazon Prime for streaming.
