Extraction: Movie Review
More than the global audience, Indian fans of Chris Hemsworth have one good reason to spend their lockdown. Netflix released Sam Hargrave’s debut action flick Extraction on April 24, 2020. The surge of excitement has no bounds for Hemsworth’s fans in India, as significant portions of the film have been shot in the country.
Sam Hargrave – Joe Russo – Chris Hemsworth
Extraction is the kind of film that gives you the vibe of blood, gore, and ruthless brawls over and over. Sam Hargrave made his directorial debut with Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth. Joe Russo tried his hand in the screenplay, which is decent for a first-timer.
The film features Chris Hemsworth, who plays a black market mercenary hired to rescue a warlord’s son. The film also stars Rudraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, and many others in pivotal roles.
The action overdose that Extraction offers
When Extraction’s trailer was released, no one could remain grounded for the hardcore action sequences the trailer showed. Hargrave, a prolific stunt coordinator, knew what was expected of a fast-paced action flick. And he has given his golden touches in areas that demanded brutal brawls and barrage of bullets.
This film could have possibly gone down the drain if directed by someone else struggling to unwrap innovation in action sequences. An apparent commonality that Extraction has is that its story is much like every “kidnap and rescue mission” film that we have seen so far. Although action sequences were the defining element, it raises thoughts about having spun a different storyline.
The final words
Extraction has many positives to look into if we forget the aspect of the usual storyline—the biggest highlight being Chris Hemsworth’s return since Avengers: Endgame with Joe Russo’s screenplay.
Randeep Hooda is another noteworthy character who levels with Hemsworth in all fronts of realistic “head to toe” action.
Ergo, Extraction is definitely an entertainer of sorts for the fast-paced screenplay and gripping stunt visuals.
