Fans Furious Over Dafne Keen Reprising X-23 Role in ‘Deadpool 3’ Despite Ties To ‘Logan’ Timeline
Fans are already excited over Deadpool 3, which comes after Disney’s acquisition of Fox. It would mean finally merging the X-Men and Deadpool universes together on a much larger scale. It was not possible before due to monetary reasons. So far, only Colossus has fought beside Deadpool as part of the X-Men.
Already, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine appearance in Deadpool 3 has created much-needed hype for Marvel. Now rumors are that Dafne Keen from Logan will be reprising her role as X-23 in Deadpool 3. This has sent the hardcore fans into a frenzy, and many are furious at Marvel for valid reasons.

According to trusted and reputable insider Daniel RPK, Dafne Keen will be appearing in Deadpool 3, and it will not just be a cameo. She will reprise her role as Laura Kinney, aka X-23, on screen for the upcoming movie. Keen last appeared in that live-action version of the character in Logan and has not appeared anywhere else in that role since then.

Earlier in 2023, it was reported that Marvel was trying to close a deal with Dafne Keen. However, that rumor was put on hold due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. In an interview with Looper in 2020, when it was first revealed that Marvel was gearing up for Deadpool 3, Dafne Keen expressed hope of featuring in the movie.
“I’m 100 percent hopeful. I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high in case it doesn’t happen, but I really do hope it does because I loved playing Laura. She holds a very special place in my heart and she’s an incredible character. And to be fair, the whole Deadpool 3 situation really, really made me happy because, obviously when Disney bought Fox, I suspected they weren’t going to do any more R-rated films, but then greenlighting Deadpool is a great sign for other R-rated movies.”
Another speculation is that she will be playing an older version of X-23 in Deadpool 3. It has also received support from another insider, CWGST, via X, who said Marvel wants to bring her back as a grown-up Laura Kinney.
Fans reaction to Dafne Keen being cast in Deadpool 3
When the fan page DeadpoolUpdates posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the update, many fans did not take it kindly. Many pointed out how it does not make any sense, as the upcoming movie would take place before the timeline of Logan. Many were confused as to how it was going to work, with one fan even saying, “They better not touch that storyline.”
That doesn’t really make any sense considering this takes place before Logan unless this is some multiverse thing but sure. I’d say take this with a grain of salt

While fans are clearly confused and some are quite furious over such a casting, the MCU has done many impossible feats in its cineverse, including bringing Loki back from death. It worked out pretty well, and Loki became one of the fan favorites. This is just one example among many.

Wade took Cable’s time travel device at the end of Deadpool 2, so this might have an impact on the storyline of Deadpool 3. It remains to be seen what the creators bring to the table.
Deadpool 1 and Deadpool 2 are available to watch on Disney+, and Deadpool 3 is slated to come out in theaters on July 26th, 2024.
