Talking about this Toro said that he once scripted out a story of Jabba the Hutt as a spinoff of Star Wars. While the movie was canceled for some unknown reason, this recent revelation by the filmmaker has rather surprised the fans as they say that they would have loved to watch the movie.

Guillermo del Toro Opens Up About His Cancelled Star Wars Spinoff

In a candid interview with Collider, Guillermo del Toro has opened up about this canceled Star Wars spinoff. Talking about this the Academy Award winner revealed that he had once scripted out a story that revolved around the rise and fall of Jabba the Hutt. This movie was reportedly supposed to be a spinoff of Star Wars.

Talking about this in an interview with Collider the filmmaker also revealed that he wanted the story of Jabba the Hutt in the style of The Godfather. Further talking about this Toro said “We have the rise and fall of Jabba the Hutt, so I was super happy, we were doing a lot of stuff and then, it’s not my property, it’s not my money. It’s one of those 30 screenplay that goes away.”

Despite the fact that he was too much into the project the filmmaker further revealed that he was not disappointed or unhappy with the studio for scrapping it. He also said that he was grateful for what he had and if anything did not turn out as he hoped it to, he believed it was for the best.

While this sounds like a dream project, his deal with Disney was never closed. Even though Toro might have long forgotten about the project, his recent revelation about it has the fans surprised as they wished to see the movie.

Taking on the different social media channels many fans have appeared to be rather shocked at Disney for canceling such a good idea. Many fans believe that the movie would have been a good addition to the Star Wars universe and also worth watching.
