Fans Vote on Whether MCU Should Kill Peter Parker and Let Miles Morales Take Over as Spider-Man in Movies
- Spider-Man is one of the beloved and bankable superheroes in the MCU.
- Fans express their opinion about whether or not Peter Parker should be killed.
- Tom Holland has given some updates on the upcoming Spider-Man 4 movie.
Sony might have failed Spider-Man, but luckily MCU knows better than that. The web-slinger is one of the most bankable Marvel superheroes, so it comes as a huge surprise every time Sony fumbles a new movie from that universe. Luckily, the MCU’s live-action and animated versions have got fans’ backs.
The Spider-Man film series featuring Peter Parker has been rebooted twice now and the second reboot led by Tom Holland is doing remarkably well. The Spider-Verse franchise starring Shameik Moore as Miles Morales has also won over fans across the world. That said, it is worth wondering if fans would like Peter’s story to end and Miles to take over the live-action MCU film franchise.
Do fans want Peter Parker to be killed and Miles Morales to take over the torch?
Spider-Man: Homecoming, released in 2017, kickstarted the second Spider-Man film reboot and became the second-most successful film based on the superhero. The last movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, came out in 2021 and grossed over $2 billion to become the highest-grossing film ever released by Sony Pictures. Peter Parker is the lead hero of this film series.
The first entry into the Spider-Verse was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse which was released only a year after Spider-Man: Homecoming. In this universe, Miles Morales is the titular hero, having taken over Peter’s mantle after he dies in his reality on Earth-1610. The franchise has also been a critical and commercial success, with the first film even winning the Academy Award for Best Feature.
Recently, the X account MyTimeToShineHello asked in their post if fans would prefer Peter Parker dying and Miles Morales taking over the role. Fans are divided over this, but most of them agree that Peter does not need to die whether or not Miles takes over the role.
Here are the responses of some fans who believe that Peter should be killed and Miles takes over the baton:

Here are the responses of the fans who believe Peter and Miles can co-exist or that he does not need to die for Miles to take over.
No, I want to see 6 spiderman films with the 6th one being sinister six actually plotting against him. Miles can get a movie during that time, but we need this peter parker to have 6+ solos.

No. Don't care if it happened in the comics. I didn't like it then, and I certainly don't like it now. Just make it a duo team-up movie.

No. He still has potential!

Killing Peter does not seem logical considering how young he is, and he can have an entire new arc before his story comes to an end. Miles and Peter can co-exist in the same universe because the multiverse is still at play in the MCU.
Tom Holland says the fourth Spider-Man movie will be “different”
During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October, Tom Holland was asked about the rumors that the long-awaited Spider-Man 4 is going to go into production. At first, the actor asked Fallon what he wanted to know, then clarified:
It’s happening. Next summer, we start shooting, everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there. Super exciting. Yeah, I can’t wait.
Around the same time, he also sat down for an interview with Good Morning America to promote his non-alcoholic beer, Bero. When asked for an update on the new film featuring the web slinger’s adventures, the Uncharted actor said:
The idea is crazy. It’s a little different to anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are gonna really respond to it.
Considering Holland’s track record, Marvel is lucky that he did not end up revealing any other confidential information about the upcoming flick. Regardless, fans can seek relief from the fact that the movie is finally happening.
