Nicolas Cage, more commonly known as Nic Cage, is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood and perhaps one of the most active ones too considering the number of movies he makes every year. He made his acting debut in 1981 when he appeared in the TV pilot The Best of Times. Several years later, Cage had his breakthrough, thanks to his performance in the romcom Moonstruck.

Establishing himself as a reputed actor in Hollywood was obviously not a cakewalk for Nic Cage as his career hit a slump between 1989 to 1994. However, he refused to back down and came back stronger in the drama Leaving Las Vegas which earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor. He has been a trailblazer ever since, but now, years later, he has finally decided to slow down.

Nic Cage is Going to Make Less Movies Than Before

In his career spanning a little over 40 years, Nic Cage has appeared in an uncountable number of movies. This year alone, he has appeared in half a dozen different projects. He reprised his role as Clark Kent aka Superman in the DC movie The Flash in which he appeared as an alternate version of the superhero.

The National Treasure star recently told Entertainment Tonight that with his sixtieth birthday approaching, he has been thinking about what is “really important” to him. He explained to the outlet:

“So, 60’s coming up. I’d like to read a book a week. I want to spend more time with my daughter. I’m taking stock of what’s really important. Maybe not make quite as many movies. [Having a baby girl is] profound. Totally new experience. I love it.”

Cage’s reasoning for slowing down is logical. He has two sons from his past relationships, but this is his first daughter whom he had with his wife Riko Shibata in September 2022.

In a recent interview with Wired in which he discussed his upcoming film Dream Scenario, Cage expressed his contempt regarding this, saying:

“Something like ‘Nick Cage loses his shit,’ where they cherry-pick meltdowns from different movies I’d made over the years. I get that it’s all done for laughs, and in that context it is funny, but at the same time, there’s no regard to how the character got there. There’s no Act One, there’s no Act Two.”

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent star also has similar thoughts about the use of AI in the Hollywood entertainment industry. Either way, hopefully, he will keep his fans entertained with new movies in the upcoming years.
