DC Studios’ upcoming movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock, Jason Momoa, Matthias Schoenaerts, and more, is reportedly going to be the second movie of the DC Universe. The movie is reportedly based on Tom King’s famous comic series of the same name, where Kara Zor-El’s journey is reimagined as she grapples with her place in the universe.
According to the comic book, the story follows Kara’s struggle with her identity and legacy, portraying her as a complex, resilient character. Various reports have suggested that James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is going to showcase the superhero’s deeply personal journey while expanding her role in the DC Universe but nothing can be said for sure. Actor Jason Momoa shared an update for the anticipated movie.
Jason Momoa to star as Lobo in DCU’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
According to reports by Deadline, Aquaman actor Jason Momoa is all set to play the character of Lobo in Milly Alcock’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The character of Lobo was created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen and was introduced in Omega Men #3 in 1983.
The publication mentioned that the actor had wanted to play the character for a very long time, and had expressed his interest in playing Lobo during his press tour for The Lost Kingdom. Jason Momoa later shared on his social media,
Lobo is known as an anti-hero who has violent and irreverent personality. He possesses superhuman strength, regenerative abilities, and an invulnerability that makes him a formidable opponent. The character is often seen as a bounty hunter who enjoys chaos and destruction.
It was also noted that Momoa’s character Lobo is not the first time the comic book character has been adapted for live-action. Over the years, filmmakers including Guy Ritchie, Michael Bay, and Brad Peyton had circled the concept of bringing Lobo to live action, but nothing seemed to have worked out.
The actor who seemed very thrilled to be playing a character he’d always wanted to portray on-screen recently shared a picture of himself with a cigar and a script of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. (via Culture Crave’s X) He captioned the image ‘For Lobo’s eyes only,’ hinting that it’s confidential.
The exact storyline for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been kept under wraps, but James Gunn had shared previously that Ana Nogueira had written an incredible script for it.
He also noted that they did not plan on making Supergirl, DCU’s second movie, but because of how good the script is, they decided to go ahead with making it the second after Superman. Superman is set to release in July 2025. (via Omelete)

Fans also noted that Momoa as Lobo is a good call from DC co-CEOs, as the actor has been manifesting and openly talking about wanting to play the character.
Jason Momoa is the first actor to leave a DC character only to play another DC character.
