The next season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be adapted from the author’s second novel The Sea of Monsters, which continues the story by sending Percy and his fellow demigods on an oceangoing quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece. The first season saw Walker Scobell‘s Percy parting ways with his friends after they failed to meet the deadline of returning the lightning bolt. Since the concluding scenes were left open-ended, it wouldn’t be a challenging task to follow the next book.

Following the official confirmation of the Disney+ series, author Rick Riordan, the man behind crafting the massive world of Greek gods and monsters, has himself expressed anticipation for season 2. Along with Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri, who played Percy’s friends, are also returning to retrieve the golden fleece.

According to The Wrap, Rick Riordan said:

“I can’t wait to bring the next season of Percy Jackson to Disney+!… Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We’re heading for the Sea of Monsters!”

The first season became a massive hit soon after its release, making the show one of the most viewed and well-received Greek mythology series. Percy Jackson and the Olympians also featured actor Lance Reddick as one of the key characters: Zeus, whose sudden and unfortunate death gave an emotional aspect to his show.

The co-creator of Percy Jackson and the Olympians commended Lance Reddick’s exceptional acting skills, and how the actor was able to incorporate different elements in his character at the same time.
