Black Widow
Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson suing Disney for breaching the contract after the release of Black Widow on Disney+ simultaneously after its theatrical release. The lawsuit got settled outside court, but it did spark a larger conversation about the future of the film industry and also the streaming services’ role.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it’s a Disney+ series featuring Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America. Some white viewers were uncomfortable with a black man taking on the role. They expressed displeasure as the show addressed racism, which some viewers found too woke.

Thunderbolts– An Attempt to Address MCU’s Controversies?
Thunderbolts can emerge as the central force for addressing varied events in the aftermath. While fans eagerly anticipate the journey, and speculations offer intriguing possibilities, the creative team of Marvel remains notorious for keeping secrets close to chests.
As per a tweet by @CanWeGetSomeToast, the movie is “Not a sequel no, but #Thunderbolts DOES follow up on Ant-Man & The Wasp, Black Widow, FATWS, and Hawkeye. It’ll fill in the gaps of where everyone’s been since those projects and what they’ve been up to.”

However, as per Director Jake Schreier, “Thunderbolts will not serve as a sequel to any previous Marvel project. Yes, these characters have appeared before, but it is a new story being told and a story with a very different perspective than people are expecting.”
Currently, there’s no concrete evidence supporting the claims. However, it’s possible that the movie addresses the racism controversy from Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It’s possible it explores the idea of a team of heroes who are also racism victims. It can show how heroes overcome prejudice and become true heroes.
Either way, only time will tell what will and will not be part of the new MCU project.
Thunderbolts will be released on December 20, 2024.
