Regarded as one of the most commercially successful female rappers of her generation, Cardi B first gained popularity with her videos on Vine and Instagram. She is one of the most influential people in the world whose first studio album, Invasion of Privacy’s success made her the first female artist to win a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album as a solo artist in 2019. Cardi B’s album was the first female rap album in 15 years to be nominated for Album of the Year.
Cardi B’s career has only flourished ever since, and in 2020, Billboard honored her as Woman of the Year. The rap artist mentioned that Chicago drill music was one of her important influences, in addition to Madonna, Beyoncé, Selena, Lady Gaga, and Lil’ Kim. She also cites that her growing up in the South Bronx and her real-life experiences have also influenced her songwriting. The artist is dubbed the Reigning Queen of Hip Hop, and her recent take on being accused of non-payment of a mansion she used just shows that she is indeed a Queen.
Cardi B responds to the Non-Payment Lawsuit with proof of payments
According to reports by Billboard, Cardi B and Offset used a Beverly Hills mansion to shoot a video of Like What (Freestyle) and are now accused of not paying the full price. The lawsuit alleges that the former couple booked the mansion to film TikTok videos but ended up filming a full-length video.
The court documents obtained by TMZ state that the owner of the Beverly Hills mansion let Cardi B and Offset film the video for free. But he mentioned later in the lawsuit that if he had known that the duo was filming a music video, he wouldn’t have waived the short-term rental.
The plaintiff is now not only accusing the duo of trespassing, misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment, and also demanding profits from the video Like What (Freestyle), which at this moment has about 27 million views on YouTube. He is also demanding $35,000 in damages.
But Cardi B was not going to have the lawsuit bring her down, as she took to her social media to clarify the situation with a lengthy statement explaining that the owners had been paid. She wrote,
We paid those people $10,000 IN CASH to rent the property for a whole 24 hours the same day, 6 AM to 6 AM the next morning, and we went over by ONE hour, which we paid overage fees to the realtor for in March. There were cameras all over, and both the realtors and the owners were there the entire time. I got pics and videos of them on set.
She added that the owner wanted to finesse them by trying to say that the duo had told them that they’d be filming a TikTok video when it was nowhere in the contract. The artist further said that the song was playing and they were on set witnessing them film the video. She also questioned the plaintiff by asking, Why would it take them 24 hours to shoot a TikTok? Cardi B wrote,
The problem is people want to find loopholes and get over, but IRON YOUR BEST SUIT B*TCH, I’ll see you in court.
The artist once again clarified that the realtor is not at fault because they have been trying to settle this for months, but it’s the owners. She attached proofs of chats and the amount paid. Like What (Freestyle) has 26 million views on YouTube.
Cardi B gets candid about the pressure on performers to shed baby weight
The rap artist who welcomed her third child, a baby girl, earlier this month, responded to a fan’s comment under her post, which showcased her working out for 30 minutes. The user wrote, ‘It’s barely been a week. Yoh, the pressure women in the industry are under? Insane‘.
She wrote on her X account,
This is my third baby, and postpartum is a little different from my first two. I’m not doing heavy lifting, no muscle straining, squatting, none of that… just cardio. Sometimes to avoid postpartum depression, you gotta keep your mind busy, and for me, that’s work and staying active, but you know what’s funny? Y’all dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant, but now y’all are fake concerned and want to talk about pressure?
The artist continued that people were saying that she was pregnant to avoid working, and now that they see her working, they have a problem with that too. Cardi B said it’s personal for her because either way people are going to have something to say.
When the fan clarified that they did not mean to hurt or harm her with their tweet, Cardi B quickly said it was all good, but added that she was never the type to care about snapping back after birth.
Cardi B shared a couple of videos of her and Offset spending time with their baby girl, whose name has not been disclosed. The couple, who is in the middle of a divorce, share two kids, Kulture and Wave.
