Gabriel Macht reveals the real reason to return as Harvey Specter for Suits: LA

Fans are very excited for the actor to return on-screen, and some of them are curious about his return after Suits’ concluded. In a recent interview with People, Macht shared the reason he decided to return as Harvey Specter;

I’m just doing it for the fans. I’m not doing it for me. I’ve done it 134 times. I’m not doing it for me. I had very little interest in coming back to work as an actor right now because I spent so much time doing it, and this was my time to really raise my kids and to do this creative stuff like Bear Fight. However, further in the interview, Macht added that his coming back as Harvey Specter for Suits: LA is almost like giving a blessing. He explained that if he could have anything to do with helping support the show and getting it off the ground, he’d be very happy to do that.

Suits: LA is set to take the legacy of the show forward with Amell leading the show as Ted Black. The series is going to give the fans some unanswered questions and let them witness the transition and focus on the events of the spin-off. The actor also believes that the spin-off series does make sense. He said,

A couple of the episodes that I’ve read are really good. They’re right in the line. And if you’re a fan of the show, you’re just going to fall right into it. I’ve read some scripts, and I see what it is, and I understand now how the characters of Ted and Harvey connect.

Macht also noted that he was amazed by the response he witnessed when his return as Harvey Specter was confirmed. But he is not the only familiar face that is going to appear on the show. He shared that some other characters from the original series would show up in the spin-off.

In his conversation with EW, Stephen Amell said,

You’ll notice behind the desk that there’s a picture of a young Ted Black with what can be seen is a young Harvey Specter, so there is some history between the characters.

He added that they came up together in the D.A.’s office, adding that he has always been a fan of Gabriel Macht’s character. The Arrow actor believes that the audience is going to love the dynamic between the two. The creator of the show, Aaron Korsh, shared with EW that Suits: LA is led by a single person with an ensemble to carry with.

Korsh noted that Suits: LA was not supposed to be a spin-off series, but originally it was meant to be in a new universe.

NBC, however, passed on the show, and then Suits became a hit on streaming channels, and things changed. Amell, upon asking about his career, shared,

He is struggling as a leader. Sometimes he can get so driven and so focused on what’s in front of him or the next battle to win that he loses sight of his relationship with people closest to him, and that’s what manifests in the pilot.

Suits: LA is scheduled for February 23, 2025, on NBC.
