Is Game of Thrones just a cruel Game of Gods?
According to a fan theory posted on Reddit, Jaqen H’ghar played by actor Tom Wlaschiha; an alias of a man who was introduced as a member of the Faceless Men, which was known to be a society of assassins who followed the personification of death known as the Many-Faced God a.k.a. God of death, was God himself who appeared to only help Arya reach her goal.
The theory explained that H’ghar introduced Arya Stark played by actress Maisie Williams to her face on a corpse, which is something a God, could do. The fan theory further delves into making the readers think if the show’s title should have been Game of Thrones or Game of Gods as they believe that God did appear in various other forms to help the characters in some way.
The creator of the fan theory writes on Reddit,
“I believe Game of Thrones to be exactly that, a cruel game the gods are playing with each other told from the perspective of the characters championed by the gods.”
While there is no specific evidence to prove this theory, it seems like a different take on the show, which is interesting and makes the fans of the show wonder about what they watched and believed in. The show also featured actors Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey etc.
Tom Wlaschiha talks about Game of Thrones’ Jaqen H’ghar
During a conversation with TV Guide, actor Tom Wlaschiha who played Jaqen H’ghar on the show shared about his character;
“There’s a group in the Faceless Men who are assassins who kill people for money, but it’s more a philosophical thing. They don’t just kill people for money like an ordinary assassin. They will ask a very high price and most of the time, the price is way too high to be paid.”
He continued,
“His way of speaking, his mannerisms are strong, so as an actor a lot just happens naturally. It was weird at the beginning. But there’s a very famous character in Germany that everybody knows, a literary character called Winnetou. He speaks in third person so, that’s what Jaqen reminded me of immediately.”
Tom Wlaschiha had noted during an interview, that he’d consider playing the character once again if the opportunity arises adding that it was a lot of fun shooting the show and it was a great honor for him to be a part of it.
