It was predicted that DC Studios’ newest film, The Flash, starring controversial actor Ezra Miller, would perform “great” at the box office with speculation of Grant Gustin’s The Flash making a cameo, but in its third weekend of release, it barely broke even. The movie has only managed to make over $245.3 million worldwide, and based on these figures, it is widely regarded as one of the DC movies that completely failed.

There were discussions regarding a Miller-starring sequel as well, but the co-CEO had stated that the sequel would only be approved if The Flash performed well, which it did not. Therefore, The Flash 2‘s future is uncertain, but what is interesting is that the audience asked the makers why they didn’t feature Grant Gustin in the movie, who had been playing The Flash on television for nearly a decade.

Hideo Kojima joins Team Grant Gustin over Ezra Miller’s The Flash

Videogame director Hideo Kojima recently took to his social media to share that he has finally watched DC Studios’ The Flash, which featured Ezra Miller as the lead character, but he is a fan of Grant Gustin and would have loved to see him do a cameo in the movie.

He wrote, “I finally watched ‘The Flash’. I am a big fan of Grant Gustin’s version of the drama. I was hoping to see more of the STAR Labs crew, but I also enjoyed this film, which is also in the Justice League vein. Speaking of The Flash, the multiverse, like continuity in video games, destroys old-school storytelling. However, that is what they have done well with the plot.”

The video game director further mentioned in his tweet that The Flash does not come out as a stand-alone film or a prequel, but almost like a brilliant multiverse device for new fans from Justice League and old DC fans from the past. A triumph of planning and casting. Fans were surprised with the director also stating that he liked the movie, whereas some agreed with him by calling it a great movie.

Grant Gustin dismissed the rumors of appearing in The Flash

Gustin, who has played Barry Allen/The Flash in Arrowverse for nearly a decade, was expected to make a cameo in the recently released The Flash as a crossover interaction with Miller just like they did for The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths in 2020. But, the actor soon dismissed the rumors of appearing in the movie during an interview with TV Line.

He said,  “I was, like everybody probably in the ‘90s, loved Michael Keaton as Batman and he’s back as Batman. And it sounds like they got just about everything else packed into that movie.” He also revealed that he is looking forward to seeing Keaton back in the suit and how they incorporate it.

When the beloved actor was asked if he is going to make a cameo in the movie, he said “No.There’s been a lot of rumors out there for a long time and no one’s come out directly and asked me, ever, on the record. You know, people ask me on the street all the time and, yeah, I’m not keeping some big elaborate secret.”

Grant Gustin appears as The Flash in a fan-made video of Robert Pattinson’s Batman Universe

As the audience continued to be disappointed with the way The Flash turned out to be and featured no cameo from Gustin, someone on the internet took that upon himself and made a video of Robert Pattinson’s The Batman Universe’s crossover with Gustin appearing as The Flash.

Interestingly, the video has managed to garner the attention of the fans, who seem very excited to see a fan-made video of what they would like to see in the future. With DCEU coming to an end and everyone waiting for DC Universe to begin, it can be speculated if the studios will make room for DC multiverse crossovers down the line.

However, it is now known that the sequel of The Flash is uncertain, as it is unknown whether Miller will return to the DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The Flash is playing in theatres.
