Netflix’s Zero-Pay Controversy with Aaron Paul in Breaking Bad
Aaron Paul believes it’s time for streaming services like Netflix to pay what is due in light of the SAG-AFTRA strike support from the cast of Breaking Bad. Paul had joined fellow Breaking Bad actors on the picket line to provide their support to the actors who were on strike. The residuals that actors receive for appearing in movies and TV shows have been a key grievance for many of the striking actors. Despite Breaking Bad being one of the most viewed shows on Netflix for years and the actor playing a major role in each of its five seasons, Paul claims he doesn’t receive any compensation from the corporation.
“I think these streamers know that they have been getting away with not paying people a fair wage and now it’s time to pony up.”
More than a month after SAG-AFTRA joined the striking Hollywood writers, Bryan Cranston was joined by Aaron Paul, Jesse Plemons, and other characters from the Breaking Bad world in an effort to enliven picket lines. Cranston expressed his thoughts that no platform should be seen as a villain and neither does any actor want to cast them into such an image, they are only expressing their wish for fair wages. The dominance of streaming platforms, which has altered every facet of production and remuneration in the business, has prompted both guilds to confront these challenges. The Netflix success of the AMC smash series has not kept up with its ongoing appeal, according to the show’s cast.
