Giancarlo Esposito has stirred up fans’ speculations once again with a new statement regarding his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the MCU going through some major changes in the light of acquiring rights to the Fantastic Four series from 20th Century Fox and Jonathan Majors’ exit from a well-established character, it is hard to guess which character Esposito will play.

Although fans have been eager to see him in the role of Professor X and this sure looked like a chance of happening just that, The Boys actor has suggested that this is not the character he will be playing. He teased that it will be revealed “sooner rather than later,” and will be “better than you can imagine.” With so many new projects lined up, it is quite hard to guess which character he has been cast as.

Fans Speculate the Marvel Role Giancarlo Esposito Might Be Playing

Esposito had been on board with fans’ wishes to see him as Professor X. However, he said that his role would not be what everyone might be guessing, this obviously dashed out any hopes of seeing him embody the telepathic mutant.

This has led to fans wondering which role it could possibly be. Some have suggested it could be Doctor Doom, while others think it is Galactus. Here is what some of them suggested:

Doctor Doom/the ruler of Latveria is one of the most frequent fan-casted Marvel villains (case in point: Henry Cavill was speculated to be cast as the villain a few months ago). The comics portray him as a megalomaniac and genius so Esposito can give the character a realistic and down-to-earth twist.

Galactus is another villain that the Emmy nominee could play convincingly. Besides his emotive facial expressions and brilliant acting skills, his commanding voice would be a nice fit for the Devourer of Worlds. Even if he avoided the stunts, adding empathy to the character like Josh Brolin did to Thanos would be a nice touch.

While Doctor Doom and Galactus are definitely on the charts since there is no face to these characters yet, there is also a chance that he is cast as Kang. Considering his knack for playing intricate and ominous villains, he would make a good elder version of the time-traveling villain. His somber and intense performance would definitely go well for the character.

Jonathan Majors’ Exit from MCU Might Have Put the Parish Star in Kang’s Role

Jonathan Majors played the role of Kang the Conquerer in two major Marvel projects- namely the series Loki and the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He was all set to star in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, before he got the chance to do that, he was arrested on charges of misdemeanor assault and harassment last year (via CNN).

Once he was found guilty of assault in the third degree and harassment (via Indie Wire), Marvel decided to cut ties with him to prevent any further damage to the franchise’s reputation (via Deadline). This has obviously put Marvel in a tough spot since He Who Remains was supposed to be a major villain in Phases 5 and 6.

With Esposito confirming his debut and those rumors (via X) about him having passed on a role in Loki, Kang could be the secret character that he will be playing. That being said, it remains to be seen which character the Parish actor will embody.
