Gigi Hadid Arrest Details: Why Did the $29 Million Rich American Model Get Arrested?
The supermodel of the fashion world Gigi Hadid is quite an influential name. From being associated with the big names in the industry to a star-studded list of exes- starting from the high profile A-listers in Hollywood to the music world-the 28-year-old has very well mastered the art of being in the spotlight.
The American supermodel made headlines recently and for all the wrong reasons. The ex-girlfriend of One Direction fame Zayn Malik was found with marijuana during her beach vacation in the Cayman Islands last week. Gigi Hadid and Leah Nicole McCarthy were brought into the media scanner due to their irresponsible acts.
Gigi Hadid Arrested For The Possession Of Marijuana
Gigi Hadid was back in the spotlight after the news of her arrest spread like wildfire in the entertainment world. She was arrested for the possession of marijuana during her vacation in the Cayman Islands. According to a local outlet Cayman Marl Road the customs officers scanned the model and her friend’s luggage and went on to find marijuana and tiny utensils used for the consumption of ganja. The duo was transported to the Prisoner Detention Center. According to the supermodel’s representative
“Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in N.Y.C. with a Medical license. It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
Both Gigi Hadid and Leah Nicole McCarthy had appeared in Summary Court and pleaded guilty. They were fined $1000 and no conviction was recorded.
Gigi Hadid On The Controversial Vogue Italia Cover
This is not the first time Gigi Hadid has stirred up controversy. One of the wealthiest models in the world is the favorite child of controversy. In 2018, Gigi Hadid appeared on the cover of the reputed magazine Vogue.
She was featured in a visibly darker skin tone. This went on to create controversy with respect to racism and the critics slammed the model for her strikingly different portrayal on the cover. The supermodel took to social media and publicly apologized for hurting the sentiments of the audience. She said-
“Please understand that my control of a shoot 1. Is non existent in terms of creative direction 2. Ends completely when I leave set, and anything done to a photo in post is out of my control fully. The bronzing and photoshop is a style that S.Klein has done for many years and I believe was what was expected from the shoot (to show me in a different way creatively). BUT, although I understand what VogueItalia‘s intentions were, it was not executed correctly, and the concerns that have been brought up are valid. I want to address this for those who were offended by the editing/retouching/coloring of the cover.”
Gigi Hadid further added-
“Please know that things would have been different if my control of the situation was different. Regardless, I want to apologize because my intention is never to diminish those concerns or take opportunities away from anyone else, and I hope this can be an example to other magazines and teams in the future. There are real issues regarding representation in fashion — it’s our responsibility to acknowledge those issues and communicate through them to work towards a more diverse industry.”
With fame and recognition, celebrities are also subjected to trolls and online hatred for the choices they end up making in life. Gigi Hadid’s professional life is as interesting as her personal life.
