Girl’s Girl or Unprofessional?: Adele’s Bold Act to Support Female Olympic Athletes at Her Concert Has Divided the Internet into Two Camps
- Adele paused her performance at her Munich concert to display the women's 100-meter sprint final of the Paris Olympics.
- Some are praising Adele for promoting women's athletics, and others think she disrupted the concert.
- Adele's actions are a reflection of her outspoken feminist stance that she always had.
Grammy Award winner Adele has been making headlines once more. However, it is not for her chartbuster songs and heart-touching lyrics this time. Recently, the singer has divided the internet with some of her actions during a concert in Munich.
As the Paris Olympics fever has taken over the world, Adele also wanted her fans to experience some of that. During her performance, she stopped the concert for some time to show an important moment in female athletics.
Adele Pausing Her Concert Divides the Internet
Adele’s live performance was held on August 2, 2024, at Messe München which has a capacity of 80,000 people. On the second night, she paused her performance to display the women’s 100-meter sprint final of the Paris Olympics on the big screens.
Sha’Carri Richardson was also participating in the event, and Adele was supporting her. Looking at the singer, it seemed she was very interested in the Olympics. She also shared being a critic of the athletes and joked that she would die if she tried any of their moves.
Adele paused her concert as soon as the race began and people saw Julien Alfred winning the gold. Her concert suddenly became an Olympic viewing party that combined music and sports in an unexpected way.
However, it also caused many reactions on the internet. While some believe the singer was supporting women’s sports, others are saying that she interrupted a paid performance. But some of the people commented that Adele made it up by coming back later to perform an additional song.
she’s truly a girl’s girl. powerful woman

Was there. She added a song because her planned song would have gone on during the race. It was amazing.

Adele has also applauded other athletes like Simone Biles during the concert and appreciated her Netflix documentary about acknowledging the mental health issue. Despite her recent actions, which started a discussion, her fans thought that she stopped the concert to support women’s sports.
Adele’s Feminist Stance Is Not a New Thing
Supporting female athletes is just one of the ways Adele shows her feminism. In a Rolling Stone interview earlier, she declared that she is a feminist and explained how she looks at feminism. She said in her own way,
I’m a feminist. I believe that everyone should be treated the same, including race and sexuality.
She also discussed the sexism she has faced in the music industry over the years and recalled being in business meetings “full of men” where her thoughts were not taken seriously. Her response to that proves her stance. She said,
Well, I’m the f*cking artist. So I f*cking know everything, actually! Like, don’t f*cking talk down to me!
This stigma is present on the production side as well. Adele also shared in her Rolling Stone interview the time when she collaborated with Sia, and having two women in the studio together allowed them to be “bossy” and the male producers felt inferior.
It appears Adele is helping to reduce the barriers women face across all fields by speaking out about these issues and using her platform to support other women, whether it is through pausing a concert to showcase female athletes or calling out sexism in the boardroom.
