“Go buy some Brady brand underwear. They’re actually amazing”: After Being Blasted for His ‘Underwear Thirst Trap’ Pic, Tom Brady Dodges Backlash By Calling it Brand Promotion
Tom Brady has had a roller coaster of a year. The swashbuckling Quarter Back has seen things go both up and down for him. Last year, he made the shocking announcement that he was retiring from the sport he loved, only to un-retire a few weeks later. But that wasn’t even the major highlight. What followed was an altercation with his former wife Gisele Bündchen, who broke up with him because of him choosing his career over his family. And after going through all of that, he kicked off the New Year with the announcement that he’ll be retiring (again!).
Why did Tom Brady post a thirst trap?
The above-mentioned course of events has led people to wonder what exactly has been going on in the 45-year-old’s mind. Why leave the sport just a few months after you separated from your spouse for choosing to continue playing? But that is not the only wondrous thing he seems to have done.
Tom Brady took to Instagram to share a picture of himself, only wearing underwear. The picture was enough to send his fans into a frenzy. The shot, taken while he was sporting Brady Brand underwear, was dubbed a thirst trap.
It’s just a promotion
The father of three had to settle doubts soon. Speaking on the Let’s Go podcast, Brady shrugged off making light of the whole situation. Making fun of the speculations, he promised not to post any other thirst traps.
But that wasn’t the only justification he offered. Trying to salvage the situation, he also promoted the brand. He said,
“It’s Valentine’s Day, go buy some Brady brand.com Get your favorite underwear. They’re actually amazing.”
Who could have come up with a better way of promotion?
People react to Tom Brady’s ‘Thirst Trap’
Speaking about the eponymous brand, Tom Brady said,
“I’m wearing them right now and I promised not to share too many more of those photos. It is a little easier to do when you don’t have to walk into a locker room the next day.”
That doesn’t change the fact that everyone was left shocked by the “promotion”. Travis Kelce said, “He’s thirst-trapping us man. Freshly retired, he’s got a lotta time.” Julian Edelman was also intrigued by the post, saying, “Looks like Tommy Boy is getting in the old thirst trap game.”
Seems like he has found a second sport that he can make his very own.
